Does it bother anyone else that most (all?) of the contestants chosen to come up on stage were from California?  Not only that, but in the immediate area surrounding Los Angeles.  I mean, if that's the best the staff can do, then it shows how many people actually care about a "special" like this.

During pregnancy is probably not the time most women want to trek across the country to attend Price.  That would be my guess.  One thing I forgot earlier, did anyone else notice how Drew mumbled his "When is your baby due?" line?  The first time he said it, I though he asked "What does your baby do?  I thought he was joking, which actually would have been funny if he asked the mother what she did first.

You know, I try to be open minded about these motif shows and even the salutes that restrict contestants, but today was just too much - it bored me. It honestly just feels weird and out of place to me to have pricing game prizes like a nursery and car seats on this type of show. I imagine it may have appealed to the female 18-34 graphic, which is probably what they're going for, but it alienated the rest of us.

It's a shame too this show had to feel so lethargic like that (Wayo had a good word) - there was a very strong lineup today (only 1 quickie! no 1 prizers at all!) and it was set up to have a good chance at 4 wins (although the car games were their usual hard selves). I just found it difficult to get into today's show, but would like to hear from someone if they particularly enjoyed today's show because of the prizes. The show does not need gimmicks like this - Monday and Tuesday were actually great shows on their own, so today just disrupted this week's momentum.

Oh, and Cliff Hangers was a token example of how contestant quality usually goes way down on a special like this that limits the contestant pool. On the plus side, I thought that Drew hosted today's show better than any single episode that has aired in the past month - he spent some good time with the contestants today.

Timings:
Let 'em Roll (5.5) - 3:52
Switch? (3.5)- 3:34
Cliff Hangers (4.5) - 4:30
Eazy as 123 (4) - 3:53
One Away (5) - 5:25
Safe Crackers (4.5) - 4:17
Total (27): 24:41

Ahh, so Alicia and all of her friends live in the same neighborhood and got pregnant at the same time.  My immediate thought:  "I hope all of their babies don't have the same father or else we'll be seeing all of them on another TV show next year--Maury."

I cannot believe the two strollers were more expensive than the computer.

One Away was a crapshoot between $18,629 and $18,647... but somehow, Alicia forced a loss on herself.

My showcase bids:
Van--$40,107
Station wagon--$25,107

Yep... only The Fireball can find a way to overbid a sexed-up showcase. :headbang:
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Stan WIN for using this as an excellent opportunity to use that cue. I sprang up instantly when I heard that. Great.

As Guint pointed out Drew WIN for actually hosting One Away. I hope this is permanent.

Cliff Hangers was odd. Let 'Em Roll was unfortunate.

Easy az 1-2-3 was actually easy as 1-2-3. Go figure.

*Also, today was apparently Amber's "Holly" day. From the drawer on the changing table to the reveal button on Easy, she just had a hard time today. Poor thing.

A Minivan. That was a nice change of pace.

Pretty average show. One of the better specials.

*Oh....and what in the world had Drew cracking up at the end today?

Probably the idea that the show was about people having babies and that he just told people to keep their pets from having them.  Honestly, if I were in his shoes and that thought hit me, I probably would have had a similar reaction.  Granted, pet overpopulation is no laughing matter, but one can't help but see the irony.

The actual retail price is...

I know that only baby items for a show is dull considering that there are people that don't like baby items on the show.

It's not that people don't like baby items on the show.  It's that only baby items for an entire show is dull.  It gets repetitive and steals any of the surprise factor concerning what they might offer next.  It's no different than when they had that trip overload a while back--seemed like every single showcase there for a while was nothing but trips, with nothing that I would consider an actual "prize" in there anywhere.  (And didn't the audience actually groan at one point when a trip was revealed?)

Have they been using the cue from the fifth Item up for Bids on a regular basis, or was that new?  It sounded like it would fit fairly well with the normal music.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time for that piece, it's in the same "suite" of cues as the piano cue (used here when Rich screwed up the prize description for the prior one-bid).
They can be close at the top, too.

Let Em Roll:  I can't believe that Elisangela and the Peanut Gallery thought that the infant formula was more expensive than the Orajel! :headbang:
Switch?, Eazy Az 123, Safe Crackers:  Nice wins! :-)
Cliff Hangers:  Downright awful! :headbang:
One Away:  Bummer! :-(

Pretty good show overall, IMHO.

If I recall, the post that was deleted said something about Drew being the best host of TPIR ever and he should host for another 50 years.  :D

No, kidding, something about liking that one cue we all liked from this show.
They can be close at the top, too.

I suppose I can understand why Drew would laugh at the end of the show, but the reasons behind spaying and neutering pets are serious. Makes me wonder about how sincere he is about the cause, or if he just says the line every day because he thinks it's just tradition.

I actually took it that he was laughing at what he had said right before the spayed/neutered plug. I think he had said something to the tune of "it was fun having the expecting mothers playing. it was nice to have all of you here." It looked as if he realized he sounded dumb when he said that and just started laughing, or something happened off camera too.

Guess you'd have to ask Drew to find out for sure, but I think it was more along the lines of what gameshowfan1987 and I thought. I just watched the ending again and he started laughing while delivering the plug and didn't appear to look away from the camera lens.
