Resigning as recap guide, effective end of Season 40
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:27:11 PM »
This morning, I sent notice to the administration that I am resigning my post as recap guide, effective at the nominal end of Season 40 in mid-June 2012.

The reason for my departure is because I need more time for different pursuits. To be honest, sitting in front of my computer to produce these recaps for an hour six days a week when I already spend most of my work day in front of a computer simply is no longer enjoyable.

This move has nothing to do with recent controversies regarding what the admins deemed excessive criticism of mistakes made in my recaps. Honestly, I didn't care about it all that much, and for the large part moderation of such was done by them. I only dealt with one such case personally, purely because the moderation complaints got annoying enough.

I came in to fill a void left by Joe Capitano, when he rage-quit over some sort of petty drama. To this day, I don't even know why, nor do I care to. The offending thread was gone before I knew he was. But I saw how he did recaps, and from the very first day I knew I could at least do a better job doing it the same way. I've refined it over the past two years to what you see today. For now, I have gotten to the apex of what I can give.

I choose to leave this way because I want to give plenty of lead time for the site to find my replacement. I'm not going to leave the site in a lurch like Joe did.

I thank you all for the support, and I thank Marc, John and Seth for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the site in my own way. My departure from this position does not represent a disappearance from the site. I still plan to come by from time to time, and might even comment more than I usually do.

I don’t post a lot.  But I read the recaps everyday.  And I wanted to say thanks.   I always thought your recaps were very well done.  And I, for one, got a kick out of your occasional commentary.  So thanks very much for your hard work, it’s been appreciated!

Kitch, I appreciate how you've helped make the recaps more colorful and "modern" and appreciate your time here - I know those probably take a while to make. Thanks also for giving us plenty of advance notice to find somebody else!

Kitch, you were an awesome recapper. Your mastery of HTML has been a welcome addition to the recaps, and your fun-loving and passionate attitude have been invaluably appreciated. We will miss you, and we hope that you will stay in the TPIR community.

I'm sad to see you go man, compared to Joe Cap, reading a recap from you and you overall presiding over this section has been a breath of fresh air. I hope I can at least still talk to you in the Golden Road chat in season 41 if I'm still around myself.
Yeah...let's make this current shall we?

You've done a super job, Kitch. I'm sure that it takes a lot of work and time to make the recaps so enjoyable to read. Many thanks to you.

Kitch I really enjoyed the recaps, and your opinions.
Just a shame that you were hamstrung sometimes by the people at CBS not revealing the values of certain prizes.
Hope everything goes well in the future.

Thank you so much for your recaps. They were very high quality and definitely gave me most of the information I needed when I couldn't watch the show. You came in during a pinch and you stuck around; even through all the things going on in your real life. And between the picture of Jesus and the picture of Shahid Khan, I'd always look forward to seeing them in your posts.

I'm very disappointed that you didn't get a primetime special during your tenure. And I'm holding out hope that you can still get that magical Perfect Show before you head out (we came sooooo close in December).

Thank you, so much. Your work was (and still will be) highly appreciated.

What I could say would be redundant, as it has already been said. When I first saw your recaps following Joe's departure, I figured that you would be chosen to take the post permanently. "What deliberations?! We have a winner right here!"

For these past two years, I found your recaps to be highly refreshing -- mostly due to the blue background, but also because of your HTML mastery and usage of many colors as opposed to the standard black text of the previous seven. Your recaps also introduced "mugshot machine" and varying forms of "doop" (among others) to the Golden-Road lexicon.

And, not in an attempt to bash or flame anyone (you folks know full-well that I do not do such, so please no emails or PMs), I found this quote from some time ago to be amusing in a morbid sort of way:
After handing things so flawlessly for nearly three full years, I truly believe that this area of the site has become yours. With that, please join me in congratulating Joe as we rename this area of the site to JOE CAPITANO’S TPIR SUMMARIES AND SPOILERS. Like the Bob Barker Studio, Joe’s name will forever be over this little wing of our site…

Regardless, many thanks for your hard work, and hopefully your successor can continue in the proud tradition. :-)

The above is my opinion and mine alone.

Thanks for the recaps, Kitch. I only came to this site in the past few months, and I've looked at your recaps compared to others', and yours are by far above all the others I've seen.

Thanks and good luck in your future!
