The Price Is Right Australia - 2012 series
« on: March 27, 2012, 08:06:19 PM »
Thought I'd make a general discussion thread on the upcoming new series.

Larry Emdur has been confirmed as host.   The show starts taping next week on 4 April (!?!?!?!?!) and will be on air next month.    The first show will have some sort of tribute to Ian Turpie.

Logo below....

Contestants must be 18 or over.  Children 12-18 are allowed in the audience but 12-16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

It appears that after the first one or two tapings, they will tape two shows on each taping day at 12.30pm and 6pm.

Really looking forward to this!
I hope they play some old Seven Network episodes also somewhere.

The buzz around the return of The Price Is Right today has been incredible.   It helps that it is going to be on the channel that is dominating TV ratings and that Larry's stature has risen significantly since the last time he hosted it thanks to his Morning Show hosting duties.

^ brosa, that pic you posted is a definite eye-opener.  I know all studios look like that to start with, but it never ceases to amaze me how plain (and lonely) they look when they're empty.

Any idea what kind of set they're cooking up?

Based on the logo, maybe a copy of the French set?

Something tells me we can expect the bastardized French version.   :headbang:

What do you find wrong with the current French version of the show?
I support The Price is Right.

Any idea which games they'll have? Given it's on a different network, with different producers, and filmed in a different city, they aren't going to just repaint old sets they had lying around like they did last time.

Certainly Cliff Hangers, Hole In One, and One Dollar Deal (Lucky Seven, and the first game played in the first episode of every version since at least Turps's first time) are staying. I can see them doing Pay The Rent too - maybe for $50,000 - to counter the huge prizes on Millionaire Hot Seat, and to have a cash game that's not reliant on luck. Any other "locks"?

I'd kind of like to see Ten Chances as an in-joke to the show's continued reboots. We definitely need more than two grocery games this time, and probably about the same number of small prize games and quickies as well.

Actually, you know what else is probably going to happen? John Deeks as the announcer. Has prior experience with the show (he was one of Turps's announcers), already doing voiceover for The Morning Show so has rapport with Larry, and well-known even for the younger generation after doing Wheel of Fortune for the better part of 25 years or however long it lasted.

I think they are going to just paint the old props and reuse them im sure they are somewhere in storage. If the show is starting production next week theirs really no time to build 40 new props? Unless they planned this a while ago?

I agree i hope this version doesn't be based off the god awful french version. I hate that version and the versions that followed it, its terrible.

Since the our American version is crap i guess i have to watch and enjoy tpir oversees
