Well this show started out crappy. Blah/Wasted pick Money Game, distance rule Most Expensive loss, and a complete logic fail Pick-A-Number. This was not a lineup befitting a one-off special (really, no Big 3?). And then boom, here comes the second half with spectacular games and excellent playing!

Plinko was great! It looked like the chip popped over on the peg above the zero and went into the 10K slot. And then she did it again! I was disappointed that she went with the extreme left (right for us) for her final chip. Still, absolutely exciting playing.

What do you say about Let 'Em Roll!? Perfection! A slightly tough GP setup, but he got through it. And then he yahtzees it! Amazing. Well done.

Race Game continues to be a fun game this season. And it seems fitting that it started the season with perfection and now it ends with perfection. Great playing! The prices really did seemed to lay themselves out. It wasn't too bad of a setup and she aced it.

So, it was great to see this show plucked from the sea of bad specials with a spectacular 2nd half! The guests weren't bad. I wish them luck at the end of the month. They really didn't seem there to me.

But what in the world was up with nothing luxury in this show? A Jeep and a Boat? Really? Couldn't even spring for the BMW 128 (or maybe to be more American, a Corvette)? Interesting.

Possibly the most bipolar show I've ever seen. At around 11:20 I was wondering why I was even wasting my time on this show, what with another pointless Olympic guest appearance, a really terrible lineup (especially when you're expecting a big 3), and terrible gameplay. Then the second half, EVERYTHING turned around! That may be one of the most impressive halves I've ever seen on TPIR. It's tough to beat a $20k+ haul in Plinko and TWO exactas, especially since LER was the first perfect playing in the game's history! We have three "Yahtzees" now with Drew, compared to just one with Bob, and it was nice to even see 3 rolls won on a standard "split" setup.

To be honest, this show was set up to do pretty well. Really, there was no game blatantly set up for a loss today - ME came closest. LER had a 2 roll setup, but Money and Plinko were left fairly open, as were both showcases. And the game selection was OK - it should have just been balanced way better. I'm fine with cash games showing up 4th once in awhile, but not if they create a hideous imbalance like today was. Plinko and LER really needed to be in separate halves, especially since they're so similar anyway. Still, I'm glad this ended up working out, when I was almost positive at 11:20 it wouldn't. At least the next show doesn't air until after the Olympics are over. :)

Timings:
Money Game (4.5) - 3:59
Most Expensive (3.5) - 5:08
Pick A Number (3.5) - 3:27
Plinko (5.5) - 5:53
Let 'em Roll (5.5) - 4:06
Race Game (5) - 4:31
Total (27.5): 26:04

Great show today!  I was extremely worried that Mike would go overboard with the theme, resulting in a terrible lineup and several forced losses.  It's great to see that we can still have a special show without going too "over the top".

I agree that none of the games were blatant forced losses. Money Game was tricky, but still winnable.  My guess was right on ME, and PaN was a toss-up between the 4 and the 8.  The second half was amazing!  A $20K+ win on Plinko, a Yahtzee in LER, and an 11-second Race Game win that had me saying, "That is how you play Race Game!"

The only thing I would have changed was the slotting of the games so as to balance out the lineup.  I would have gone with ME/LER/Race/PaN/Plinko/Money.

First half was horribly blah. Lineup was two quickies and the quickest car game... blah. Money Game ended with the contestant picking a "front half" number for the back half... blah. Most Expensive was lost because the Distance Rule was not observed... blah. Pick-a-Number had the last digit missing and the contestant pretty much out-Miked herself... blah.

Then came the second half.

First, another great $20K+ Plinko game! Setup was open for 4 chips with perhaps a 5th for extra-savvy pricers, which helps. We've had some heartbreaking moments where a chip seemed to head towards the $10K slot but bounced out into a $0 slot. Today, the exact opposite happened: a chip seemed to be going into the $0 slot but bounced into the $10K slot instead! Obviously, that scenario is far more preferable. And she gets another $10K on top of that!

Second, Let 'em Roll. Not too bad for the usual "both higher/lower" setup (it was the former this time); people do recognize an entire frozen pie as on the expensive side... but Jonas needed none of that, as he gets us yet another Yahtzee! And that's as perfect as this game can be played!

Finally, we started the season with a one-try Race Game, and now we more or less end the season with one! Obviously not nearly as much was offered, but still a great way to wrap things up. Setup was pretty easy; as long as the pool table was locked in on as the most expensive and the bikes the least, at worst it'd just be having to switch the middle two prices.

Lineup was horribly unbalanced and definitely needed tweaking; I'd say by switching Plinko with Pick-a-Number (or Most Expensive).

I was sort of thinking that they might play Double Cross today as it's the newest game and only been played once so far.  Anyways here are my thoughts about each game individually.

Money Game- Stupid to have picked 21 for the last choice after finding the front on the 1st pick.

Most Expensive- I had a feeling it would be Maine as it's the furthest from California of the 3 trips used.

Pick A Number- Should've stuck with 8.

Plinko- Lucky break getting those 2 chips in the $10,000 slot; not just where she dropped them but also how they moved over at the end.

Let 'Em Roll- A lucky Yahtzee with that 1 cube rolling over to a car symbol.

Race Game- An exacta by means of quick movement; can't get much better than that.

A well-balanced 4th of July show, which was a lot better than last year's............

THE BAD NEWS:

Money Game: I can understand Pamela picking the big numbers, but picking 21 as her last choice?!!

Most Expensive: Too bad April didn't pick the Maine trip, considering that it had the most distance....That's why it was the most expensive.

Pick-A-Number: Nicole got caught in one of Mike's patented set-ups.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Plinko: Good thing that Lindsey won over $20,000. Funny when she fell and we can see her "un-mentionables". I'm pretty sure it was a thong................ ;)

Let 'Em Roll: The highlight was Jonas............It was high time that we got a "Yahtzee" from that game! And not only he got that truck, but he also got a Jeep on his showcase, too! Awesome contestant today!

Race Game: Cassandra got all the prizes right on the 1st try.............And in 11 seconds as well!

Crappy 1st half............Excellent 2nd half! A good theme show IMHO

Money Game had an evil setup i thought the last 2 numbers were 40 but mike tricked us again.
Most Expensive i also woulda chose hawaii as the most expensive trip but i woulda lost.
Pick a Number was quite easy I mean how could anyone fail that? I knew it had to be the 8.
Plinko well 20 grand is better than not winning nothing at all.
Let Em Roll I can't believe the person got an exacta in let em roll with all 5 blocks landing on car symbol the first roll.
Race Game Well could you believe that the person got all 4 right on first try? Very nice win.
pepe! It took us all summer to clean out all the skunk stink from seasons 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40!!!

I hope that trip to Maine included a batch of Pier French Fries from nearby Old Orchard Beach  :oldlol:

And what the Fourth of July happened on Pick-A-Number? Picking 4 because it was the 4th? Really?

Nice ending with the back-to-back exactas, although it rendered moot a great escape on the second LER GP.

They're lucky the show turned so good at the end. You cannot rely on Money 1st, no matter how fairly easy that was, to get off to a good start, then stick the hardest game of the day 2nd. Pa# though was just a complete mess, I don't think that was meant to particularly be won but that really was just stupid logic.

Plinko and Race were set up easy, so I guess they did want roughly about what we got 3/6, with Roll having the sexed up truck I guess to show off (except it backfired). Chat joked Plinko was fine 4th since it was the 4th, but the lineup was just so awkward I wouldn't be surprised if Adam really did base it around that game & slotting and didn't want Money 5th again so "soon" (Father's Day), even though Race repeated in this short week.

Going to be hard to find a show more bizarre that doesn't have technical issues. You don't see halves' crappy/good game selection match up with crappy/great results to those extremes often at all.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

MG: I wish Golden Road had been played first on this holiday again, but I guess it's just as well for Pamela it wasn't.

ME: I wasn't totally sure, but I thought Maine was it.

PaN: Don't pick the middle choice, everybody!

Pl!nko: Another $20K+ win this season!

LER: Mike has got to be wondering why he didn't offer the usual Colorado Work Truck instead of the Colorado Crew Cab 2WD after Jonas completely nailed this game; that's the second time ever a Yahtzee has occurred after a grocery sweep!

Race: After what happened here, that was the most incredible half of "Price" I've seen in recent memory!!!

Showcases: Jonas was quite the player, huh? I knew his truck was replacing the sailboat behind Door #2 at the end, but what I didn't know was the garage door for the Ultimate Garage Showcase intro was a three-piece prop (the pieces were all behind the truck).

What a comeback in this episode!

Looks like we'll have to wait until the Back-to-School show for Goldy to show up.

Anyways, sucky first half, amazing second half (literally floored me with LeR).
