Hopes for Season 41
« on: September 19, 2012, 11:27:13 PM »
As the new season is just around the corner, I was wondering what folks would like to see from the show this upcoming year.

For me, less special shows and the reintroduction of some neglected and underplayed pricing games would be ideal.

(It would be great if we could keep this thread realistic since Bob still isn't interested in coming back.)

There certainly seems to be a distinct lack of hype compared to last season.

I agree that it would be great to see some of the underplayed games get more airtime this season.

My hope is, based on what we saw on the 40th anniversary special, they get rid of that tiny 3D logo on the big doors and put a bigger one up there.

I'd like to see Check Game make a comeback and at the very least, less gimmicks.........I mean, the holiday shows are good (aside from Halloween and Valentine's Day from S40) and I don't mind Celebrity Week coming back again, but Plinko/PCH Week?!?!  :rollold:

That's only natural: a 40th season will naturally get more hype than a 41st or 39th. Round numbers sound a lot bigger.

I really didn't think Pay the Rent was played quite as much this season compared to season 39 since it was a new game then. But I'm with you guys and think there needs to be a decrease in game play for games like Money Game, Lucky 7, That's too much, etc. and some of the quickie games. But there also needs to be an increase for other games. It seems like with Adam creating the game line-ups that he tends to do it in such a way that it seems he favors some games more than others, which shows it doesn't necessarily matter how popular some of the games are in general.

I'm also in favor of less gimmick shows such as Salute to Nurses, Back to School, etc. as they really don't do much for ratings. And in all honesty when you do some of these gimmicks repeatedly from year to year you have to be carefuly because they can get old. For example, while i honestly did love the April Fool's shows from Seasons 37-39 I felt it was a great idea that they didn't do one this year since it fell on a weekend.

I'll still hold out hope to hear some of the older cues on the semi-est of semi-regular basis.

I'd also like to see more regular three car shows. As in shows that don't occur on specials.

It would be nice to see Punch-A-Bunch, Golden Road, and/or Triple Play pick up a win. Hell, even Pay the Rent. On that note however, Golden Road needs to be played more than it was. Last season was pitiful in terms of playing.

I hope whatever Card Game's issue was last year has been properly resolved and we'll see it more this year. I don't know what's happened, but after Roger left this game has gotten no love.

And I'll concede to the controversy and hope for a truly perfect show. It should be against the law to come that close so many times.

I would like to more Golden Road and WHOLE lot more of Three Strikes! For Three Strikes, the "Single Strike" ruling made the game a whole lot better to win. I just hope see it played with that ruling.

Personally, I'm used to the "3 Strikes in the Bag" rule, but I hope 3 Strikes gets played more often this season, period, and ditto for Golden Road and Triple Play.

I'd like for Richards to admit that this show has hit poor quality levels and leave.

(Too much to ask?)

I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs.

An old statement that still holds true.

As I observe the old game props, they made a constant feel as if they were playing in a carnival; each game had intricate mechanisms to make them work properly and dazzle audiences.  That feeling can't be duplicated with monitors and animations.  I never thought of that analogy about old props on any game show before, but it makes sense the more I think about it.
