I might as well get this out of the way:

THE BAD NEWS:

L7: Surprised that Puett said a 0, but leave it to Mike to put up a $32K+ Camaro..........Oy vey.

Freeze Frame: Patricia was a bit oblivious throughout the game........And she doesn't know why the audience booed her. It was the wrong price of the BBQ.........I don't remember a BBQ being worth $4115 anyway.

Safe Crackers: Obviously a easy set-up ($650 not $560........Duh.)

THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

Gas Money: I don't why Mary stop at the second try. I didn't it was that hard seeing that the car price was on the 4th slot. Oh well, $3000 is better than nothing.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Plinko: No Stinko (Thank God) but $20,000!!

Double Cross: Another good win! Liking the think music, too!

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It's just "meh". Overpriced cars and overpriced showcases really seemed to be the focus of what Mike is trying to do this season. I'm already fearing the worst of this if he keeps using traps like these, making this a season with less wins.

And as if I got enough to worry about:

SIDE NOTE: Congrats to Rachel again on her newest addition.

Of course they're gonna put the rat in Rat Race first... Interesting idea to fly the [frequent or popular] games with the logo, though.

Lucky Seven: I just had a Season 36 flashback about Lucky Seven being first. With all the "$x to lose sayings" over and over again, I had a feeling they may put a counter monitor on the upper left of the game (in a manner similar to Any Number), and Drew would still repeat it over and over again. Also,

Boy, do I want to throw up about the overexcitement of the expectancies (especially from some members of the audience and the models). Aside from my personal feelings, I still bless them on their blessed arrivals.

Plinko: When the third chip was played, I felt really good to see some fresh Price again. It also means this episode may not ever air again.

Double Cross: That is one rocky cue for the game. Now it looks like the game will really explode whenever there is a win. (Like whenever Mr. Barker wants to run to his dressing room if a game like Bonkers might blow up.)

Another touring cast.................................. and another look of the week...................................

Freeze Frame: Oh, yeah. With the Look of the Week, we may get Freeze Frame, like this time. When Patricia pulled the lever so soon, I figured she may have pulled a little too early. Then after hearing the Peanut Gallery, methought it was not a good choice. It wasn't.

Gas Money: Kinda felt the $18K was the easy one and was worth only $1K. Mary bailed??? Doesn't hurt to bail and take the grands.

Safe Crackers: Boy, do I want to use 605 (or use -05 for any kind of camera), but that won't work. Kinda cringed when Megan used 560.

Showcases: When I heard that US Route 41, I thought the trip might be Chicago, because US Route 41 does go through there, which includes the entire Lake Shore Drive. What? Only $22,000 for the first Showcase?
I must say, Patricia looked very familiar to me, like a contestant who wore a yellow t-shirt and played Tempatation and was ineligible. After watching the episode I uploaded, it was six years ago, and it was not the same person.
Now for the results. Only $311 if the bids were swapped and over $100K in the Showcases (again). Wow.

I could barely read the prizes' companies. I also wondered if the season premiere was going to be spectacular, there may have been some publicity towards. Or it was because I was barely aware of the season premeire from my regular game show sources.

I can't really see any average person would overbid on those showcases.

I wasn't so much speculating there could've been one this episode, more or less just stating the fact it has happened before. The Season 24 premiere comes to mind but as predictably overpriced as today's showcases were the chance of either contestant overbidding was pretty much slim to none.

A few other notes, I wasn't a fan of the cues they used today, especially in Double Cross. I feel like that game needs thinking music, not music for the purpose of having background music.

Showcase #1's ARP was close to $41K which would've been very suitable considering it was the season 41 premiere and with that comes a question: is it ever intentionally done on the show for a season premiere to have a showcase ARP related to the season number? An example would be the Season 28 Premiere had a showcase that was $28K

Let me be positive for a second - Drew finally noted Cross's unique pricing element today.

I felt like Drew did a really good job explaining the games today, including Double Cross and Gas Money. He was really on top of things today (aside from running at the camera in the opening).

Great to see $20K+ in Plinko... too bad she missed the fifth chip, or we might have seen a five-year-old record tied.

Well, I like the new logo animation. And $20K+ wins on Plinko are always great.

Other than that, though... meh. Felt like a regular show aside from the Showcases, which were expected massive-underbids. Definitely not much of a premiere episode.

I also liked the animation of the logo. Glad to see Double Cross won and a $20,000 win on Plinko.

My thoughts on Gas Money, I can't believe she stopped at $3,000.

Losses on Lucky Seven, Freeze Frame, and Safe Crackers were painful. On Safe Crackers, I knew the price was $650.

This was a fine season premiere in terms of the games selected. It was lacking because of some poor contestant play and unfortunate setups.

First of all, when you play freaking Race Game for 4 cars (which is the most generous I've seen studio 33 since Season 35), you can't just flip around and play Lucky $even the same old way. Nothing at all was wrong with setting that up for a win (and by that I mean, an all-five or near all-five setup). But if you want to start the season out with a loss (because that's GREAT logic!) so be it. I was disappointed that Drew didn't talk our friend out of a zero. Zero is a bad choice from a number of aspects. This wasn't a "this a hidden rule that only we would know" situation, this was a "let's think about this for a second" situation. Nowadays, zero can be close to some numbers, especially the last one since it varies so wildly, but you're better off sticking in the middle and a lot of people realize this. Nothing was wrong with opening with Lucky $even, it has opened a season (really seasons)before for expensive cars and is a fun game in terms of revealing the expensive prize.

Yay! Freeze Frame on a season premiere! That's great!?

What an odd bailout in Gas. It's always nice to see a change in pace when it comes to this hybrid. It's funny how I like this change of pace, but I loathe when someone bails out in Spelling Bee. Maybe because Bee is more rooted in luck than skill as compared to Gas Money.

Mike, please, for the love of god, realize that you can have a three car show more than once every harvest moon. Safe Crackers was such a nice surprise last on this premiere. What's wrong with playing it for a car? Come on. I mean with the $90 spread you love so much, find a crapshoot prize and play the game. It looks great on television and it doesn't seem terrible if it is lost. This head-scratching buffoonery continues to leave me at a lost for words. "We'll have a six car show for teenagers, but when it comes time to celebrate the start of the season we aren't going to at least have a fourth or fifth car shipped to the studio. Cool? Cool."

A normal note to start off the season and nothing is wrong with that.

This felt like a premiere week show, not necessarily the season premiere.

It was neat seeing Gas Money and Safe Crackers on the premiere; I would not have picked either of those to appear last night.  I agree that it would've been nice to see Safe Crackers played for a car - especially given Gas Money is inherently tricky and Lucky Seven had a difficult set up.

As far as season premieres go, I definitely felt this one was lacking as well. I was really hoping to see Golden Road, Triple Play or 3 Strikes show up (I know, wishful thinking). Something I really miss from the old days is the set decoration for season premiere week. I was watching clips from past season premieres where they had the set all decked out in balloons and signs, etc. It made it feel like a party atmosphere to kick off the new season. Having a simple sign that says "41 Years" between the doors doesn't really cut it. One positive thing about this season premiere was Drew. I thought he did a fantastic job hosting today's show and I really hope he can continue hosting more the way he has today on future shows.
