Wow, today had some difficult pricing game setups.  2 for the Price of 1 and Pick a Pair were far more difficult than they usually are.  I was totally shocked to see 2for1 actually won; there was no way I'd have guessed that.  Major kudos to Roger.

OTOH, there was no excuse that Step Up or Squeeze Play should have been lost.  $4995 was just begging to be picked.

Bob's description of Step Up confused me, let alone the contestant.  Having the contestant pick out the least expensive item before telling the contestant the rules seemed odd.  It appeared that Bob was having an off day overall, despite that it was a pretty good show.

sullim, I'm sorry, but, while Yvette should have played Step Up better, there's no way I would have guessed the dinette would've been as cheap as it was, much less cheaper than the barbecue.  I'm not sure whether I'd have bailed out with three prizes and $1500 or lost everything, but there's no way I'd have won everything in Step Up.

I dunno, I've always put Chromcraft in the same class as Ashley... typically very cheap compared to other makes.  I do agree though that the grill was more expensive than I thought it would be.

Today's show was a bit below average.

It's just sad that Card Game has been played so poorly recently. These contestants are simply stopping way too early.

Pick-a-Pair was finally lost! It's been a while, but it was nice, considering it's won pretty much every time.

2 For the Price of 1: I would'nt've picked the first number free--I knew it had to be 5. Maybe I should've asked for the second number. Then it would have been a tossup between the 8 and 4. I would've picked 8. Good thing Andre had a better time with this than I did. What was that thing he had in his hand? An elligibility paper or something?

Switcheroo: Oooh, a little game snafu. That would make it interesting. However, all I could lock in was the lowest number (2) for the mop, as do most other contestants.

Step Up: I was also tossed between the barbeque and the luggage. I was thinking about that $980 lawnmower, which made me step to the barbeque. Bad Choice. After seeing the prices, I knew I wouldn't get them all right.

Showcase Showdown 1: Maybe it was the enthusiasm of the people in the studio and/or Blake's $5,000 win--Whatever it was, it was hot today!

Squeeze Play: Immediately, I said, take out that 6 or leave that second 9 there. I was right the first time.

Card Game: Ew. A low margin and a low bid? Ew. I was hoping for at least one $1000 card. Oh, well.

Oh! It just gets hard for me when it's down to laggards like George and someone who really opened my eyes like Valerie during the last one bid. It's even more depressing when both of them don't make it up, especially George, who got sacked (or Valerie  :-D ).

Pick-A-Pair: Uh-Oh, that Theragesic is back! As soon as John picked the $4.99 lotion, I immediately thought it would be the Theragesic. Too bad John didn't comprehend that.

TwoFer was actually very easy if you were paying attention.  The car was a standard, no options, cheapo Cobalt, and the total prize package was $13,518.  Even if you don't know the price of a base Cobalt ($12,990), the last number should obviously be 8, 5 is much more likely than 3 for the first digit, and then you get the 2 for free.  (Granted, there's no way I'd expect a contestant to realize all this, but like I said, if you know what you're doing, this was a cakewalk.)

PG #1 - Woohoo!  Semiannual playing of 241 for a car!  :-P  And it's won!  :-D  :-D  :-D  Pretty dumb to take the first number for free, but Andre lucked out.

PG #2 - Yay!  Roo!  :-P  LOL--the Roo set broke!  I don't think that's ever happened before.  Tough setup today.  The mop was the only prize whose price was obvious.  The others could've been just about anything.

PG #3 - Yay!  Step Up!  :-P  The drums and the luggage were the obvious 1-2 picks.  The dinette and barbecue could've gone either way.  I would've picked the barbecue third.

SCSD #1 - Whoa!  Two days in a row with $6,000 winners!

PG #5 - "$1,000 card... I bet she loses."  *sigh*  Why do contestants still stop at $15,000-$16,000 in Card Game?

PG #6 -  :-o  :-o  :-o  Somebody pinch me!  Somebody actually lost Pappy!  That was probably the hardest setup of products in Pappy in a very long time.

Showcases - "Blake, it's a Dakota--not a Ram!"

My bids - Truck:  $27,500.  Random room/trip:  $14,500.
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Pricing Game Length:
The time of the game begins at the moment a prize is revealed for the game, or the game itself is shown.

Switcheroo -- 4:17
Step Up -- 2:52

Even though he won, Andre really didn't play 2 for the Price of 1 very well.  The first number, which is the one he requested for free, was easily the most obvious.

...wow, Switcheroo broke.  That's a new one.

I feel bad that Blake lost Switcheroo, because he really did seem to be at least trying to play it correctly (...or maybe I was just distracted, because nobody else seems to think that)...but still, it was funny that everyone knew the item he'd won was the mop.

I'm not sure what to make of Step Up.  I can't decide whether it was supposed to be hard or not.  It almost seems like it was set up to be winnable, and yet to be bombed out on if the contestant picked the grill early.

I wonder why they used The Big Banana for Card Game instead of 2 for the Price of 1.

Will somebody please explain to me how the hell Squeeze Play was lost?  Rabon wanted to take out the 6, and most of the audience wanted him to take out the 6...and then he takes out the first 9.

You know, I don't dislike Card Game, but watching it is getting depressing lately.  Maybe it needs to be played for less expensive cars.

I must be talking to Frank too much -- I was actually excited when Pick-a-Pair was lost.

1.)  That wasn't funny.  Not that it was in bad taste or anything...it just wasn't even remotely humorous.

2.)  After you've fainted, I think it's a safe bet you've already fallen over.

Yeah, it did.  In fact, Rich seemed a bit off, too, during the first showcase.

Yeah, so did I, and if anybody's willing to give me a copy of today's episode, I'll offer you anything of your choice from my list.
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

I missed yesterdays episode (forgot to tape it ) but I did notice a $5000 winner. We had another one today, too. Has this ever happened, two days in a row with a $5000 win on the wheel?
