Regardless Seth, this isn't the final change of anything, is it? It's almost completely lacking anything that feels like Price.

Some of us might say the same thing about the show these days.

I'm...floored. Absolutely...shocked.

Color scheme needs work. For real.

Funny how on the day The Game Show Forum's site software changed to support avatars, Golden Road's site software changed to not support them.

Jarring...very jarring. Thank goodness this isn't permanent.

/My join date better be listed twice.
//Aw. I wanted to actually complain as we work through all the quirks.
///It's as if I was watching an old episode of Card Sharks and a commercial for Card Sharks 2001 came on. I was shocked for a second and then the old one came back.

And it appears things are back to normal here.  Was the change just a momentary aberration?

If this was an experiment, that's fine, but yeah I dunno about this. Seemed like a barebones sketch anyways.

What got flipped on was an early "alpha" of the site theme. Avatars were not meant to be disabled.

That said, the new theme *is* designed to be noticeably, well, toned-down.  Something closer to how the site looked during what I consider it's aesthetic peak of 2003-06.

I remember that one fondly; the stripes of Golden Road's rainbow (red, blue, green, and yellow), with Pricedown dollar signs on them.  It would be a fitting gift to mark the 10th anniversary of the site's relaunch.

Should I complain now so I don't have to later?

The actual retail price is...

To me, this looks even more unfinished than the previous version...

Agreed. What exactly was wrong with the "old" "new" look? (The one updated for S41).

To be fair, the previous version looked unfinished too...

I'm fine with a new layout to coincide with the new version of SMF. This color scheme is just...lacking.

Agreed. What exactly was wrong with the "old" "new" look? (The one updated for S41).

Aside from fixing several code bugs present and uncorrectable in the previous theme being a huge plus of the theme change: The old theme was color and sensory overload: It was in essence a bunch of random - and flat - colors thrown together everywhere. Multicolored curtains with opposite colored lights plus a black header plus the doors plus the blue menu plus green title bars plus white and yellow alternating colors.  One person whose opinion I value quite highly on these matters referred to the site's appearance as "garish".

This site used to have a very clean and straight-forward look, similar to this but more red, back in 2003-06, and it was quite popular in it's time.  Clean themes are easy on the eyes, place the focus on the information instead of a thousand wild colors screaming for attention, and make the site look serious and professional.

And yeah, fixing several non-correctable-under-the-old-theme coding bugs - one of which was making it impossible to correctly present the recaps, another was causing server load issues - is kind of a big deal.

The 2011 SMF version is new? :P

Yeah, the color scheme is lacking, and the "Recent Posts" section is smaller than I enjoy (as well as the sub-forum topic font sizes) but that's just me; one thing I do like is the usernames next to posts, they're larger and the hint of orange is nice.

But sensory overload is fun sometimes! :P

Lot's of things had clean and straight-forward looks years ago - but that doesn't mean they have to look that way now :P

Well yes, that's understood, but that doesn't have to do with the appearance so much.

However, in the end, I'll be fine with however the site looks.

Again, just my thoughts. Not trying to be a negative nelly, take them with a grain of salt, or maybe a couple grains ;)
