Recap up.

Couple notes:

- We are still funking around with the Balance Game template.

- I would like your thoughts on the Bargain redesign.

I think the Bargain Game redesign looks a lot better than the first one. This one, it seems easier to see what the three distinct numbers were (the bargain price, the actual price, and the difference) and how they flow. The other one, with them all stacked on to each other, for me, at least, seemed kind of harder to follow. This one is more straight-forward and easy to follow, in my opinion.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

For God's sake, why is the 4/2 rule such a big deal? Not only has it never really played into any losses ever, it didn't even have a chance to be applied today.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Roger, when was the last time it took at least three months to get a Double Showcase Win?

It is at this point I ask that we keep discussion to the episode on hand. No more bating and no more insults.
Understood, sir. I have but one thing to say, and it involves the game difficulty:

Removing the Zero Rule or "four Now/two Then" setup would make the games harder, which is precisely what Richards prefers because it increases the odds of players losing pretty-looking items -- which is what he enjoys seeing, hence the existence of Pay The Rent.

why is the 4/2 rule such a big deal? Not only has it never really played into any losses ever, it didn't even have a chance to be applied today.
I know of one contestant around Season 34 who found the two Then products and was down to her last chance...then said Then, which of course was wrong.

Um...did I miss a post where someone mentioned that they gave away a freaking Grandfather Clock! I know you all weren't that distracted with the NoT rules discussion.

Great TTM win. I thought we had something going until Now...or Then popped up. I always find this game to be kind of difficult regardless of the 4/2 rule. If only Shauna had listened to her grandmother on the relish. I think they stood a better chance of winning with the stuffing.

Speaking of not listening to grandparents. If only Chelsea had listened to Mary on the cookie cutters. If they had won that other X, it was possible she would've put it on the bottom since she deliberated with the first X they earned.

Holy hell, that was an expensive game table! I knew it was wrong because I knew the price of the computer and how high Elmira can get, but damn, I didn't know it was that high.

How do you like that....Drew wishes there were more restored cars on the show and one pops up. Neat.

And a DSW to end it off. I'm a little shocked they were that close. I thought they might win, but since Vegas varies so wildly in price I thought the price was a bit higher. That was a trap and they evaded it. Nice.

DSW! Since it appears we're never going to have a showcase ending in 000-250 again as a DSW defense....
You expected them to be cool with ten DSWs in one season? They had about 2 1/2 seasons worth of DSWs in S39. They'll be fine if they don't have another one until halfway though S42.

Not too bad today:

THE BAD NEWS:

Now Or Then: The SOS pads got Carmen and Shauna.

OWP: I would've picked the game table and not the vintage fridge.

Secret X: Tough break for Mary and Chelsea.

THE GOOD NEWS:

TTM: Awesome win from Gail and Elissa!

Balance Game: Easy set-up and win for Lanezra and Lynea!

Bargain Game: Maurice and Kyle really did great and we have our 1st DSW this season!

For a Grandparents special, it was pretty good with a awesome ending!

It's never factored into a loss since virtually no one knows the rule, as Steve said. It rarely gets the chance to be applied so it's not as picked up as, say, the 0 rule.

Just a silly thing to bring up today when it couldn't be applied at all.

I thought about that after watching today's episode. It's been quite a while since I've seen one offered on the show.

Figures a special like this would be when they break out the ol' grandfather clocks again. :P

Oh hey, I was almost glad to see That's Too Much! again! Wait, scratch that; I was glad to see it again, especially with it being won! And on the 3rd price, too!

That was some odd jumping around the board on Now... or Then.

Also, DSW! Even with no more "easy" DSWs due to showcase ARPs never ending in 000-250 anymore, I knew we'd break through eventually.

You know, guys, they did have grandparents with every contestant on this show.  I can't believe anyone would be surprised that today, of all days, they'd offer a grandfather clock.

I love how we're still on the subject of Now...or Then. Vader is right, if you are a LFaT, you are going to have an advantage. Personally, I think the game is fine the way it is, but that's just me. And I have a right to say that :p

As I was scrolling through this thread, it baffled me how this became a pushing and shoving match over something so minute. I thought we were all civilized adults here? And I don't care what country you are from. We all should act mature in here (though that may be asking too much, at times). Yes, we have to respect each others opinions. But you make yourself look like a fool when you start bashing people because you feel "you have a right to say what you want to say". Using things like "kindly STFU" just makes you look very bad.

Anyway...now that I got that off my chest...

DSW!! That was great to see. But wow, sure seems like a lot of recent DSWs have come on days with contestant pairs, i.e. Valentine's Day, Grandparents' Day...was it Mother's Day? I can't remember if it was Mother's Day or some other special. Anyway, great to see. And very unfortunate that Secret X was lost with a '51 Chevy on the line. Tough break there. But congrats to Kyle and Maurice on almost $68,000 in winnings. That's what we like to see...winners.

Oh yea, and the Grandfather Clock was pretty cool, too.

Isn't Bargain Game with two nearly-identical bargain prices basically two-item Most Expensive?  Bargain Game is more intriguing when the bargain prices are more different, such that maybe the cheaper one is less of a bargain than the higher-priced one.

I was more amused by his comment, "I am not bound by the First Amendment."  I've heard a lot of crazy assertions about that piece of legislation, but never one arguing that someone might be restricted by it.

At one point, it was also the case that the "Now" items' descriptions by the announcer were more detailed than the "Then"s. I guess that's fallen by the wayside since they've gotten rid of so many detailed GP descriptions.
