I just get done laughing at Match game, and then I see one of the most depressing commercials I've seen recently.  Some poor kid with cancer, who's hair is all but gone, and the depressing message, this kid could die, we need your help.

Then I see cholesterol commercials saying you may have a heart attack if you don't get it under control.  The old lady with life alert... The old lady singing in a wheel chair....  And of course, the infamously happy Winford Brimley.

WHY does GSN think that these commercials are things that the young crowd will stick around to watch?  Do many older folks above 60 tune in regularly to GSN, or is it the 50 and under crowd?

And it's not just GSN, either.  All commercials seem to be going down this road except what is seen in prime time.  I saw one goofy scam that was the new sea monkeys, called my pet alien.  All $1 ridden junk sold to you for $39.99...but it's a $110 dollar store value for an alien the size of a pencil!

Are networks TRYING to drive people away to DVR with these scams and depressing adds? Smile

I don't think GSN picks and chooses what commercials air during the breaks.  As long as they make money off of airing them, I don't think they care if the commercials are for dance lessons or funeral arrangements.

Probably someday, GSN will be airing so many commercials they'll change their slogan from the "Network for Games" to the "Network for Ads" Very Happy

Thanks for the warning; I've just got it (at last) earlier in the week.  Now I know what to avoid.
