They change the lanes the rats are in on virtually every playing, and they have to program the result board to match the lineup of the rats, so why can't they change the colors of the rats? I would much prefer red, purple, green, blue and orange.

I would have to assume the ones they found online only came in a specific number of different colors and they picked the 5 they liked best.
"Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better." - Sydney J. Harris

“For the premiere of season 30, CBS wanted to do a special primetime show. However, they asked that we also add a gimmick or a twist to make it truly special. I came up with the suggestion of taking the show on the road for the first time in its history." - Roger Dobkowitz

Is it the whole West Coast that had The Young and the Restless at 10:00am, and a sporting event until 3:00pm? Because I never saw The Price is Right today because of that.
San Francisco did - and TPIR airs here at 3 PM.

Good thing they didn't have TPIR at 10 AM; the second half would have been pre-empted for Obama's statement about the Fiscal Cliff.

Price is airing after the sporting event on the west coast.

Also... for God's sake, that bedamned crap is NOT. A. GOOD. STARTING. PRIZE. But if they insist, could they at least play a regular SP/GP that actually fits first, like Grocery, Shell, or Hi-Lo? X and PaP are like the worst choices they could have made in this regard.

I feel like Roo was really forced into the lineup as it was overdue and it was extra hard (so :oldlol: at Mike failing once again). Maybe should have been Plinko or something.

As someone who watched the show and was in chat at the same time today(that has not happened in a very, very long time), I did notice some things:

Roo was pure dumb luck. I honestly though that she lost, man I was wrong  Besides, it is always a good thing when it is won!

First Half: Was good. I think that I jinxed it when I said in chat that something bad was going to happen.

Rat Race: I also said this in chat, Master Key would have been a better choice

Did not see FF, got stuck with live local coverage here, but it sounds I did not miss much there

Speaking of FF, I would have put something in it's place(maybe Grand)

Pick A Pair:  Pretty nice win, but, IMO, it should've been won on the first try.
Switcheroo:  Nice to see the car won! :-)
Double Cross, Freeze Frame:  Nice wins! :-)
Rat Race:  Bummer! :-(

Pretty good show overall, IMHO.

I not sure if Roo was forced into the lineup. Being 2nd was a stretch(I would of had it 5th), but if they would have played another car game, what was the options if PaP was first? Temptation would probably been their first choice, and THAT would have been a disaster.

A harder car game (in this era) like Roo, in super hard mode, on a supposed special, at least felt like conflicting interests in play. Today just felt like a bunch of conflict all in itself, really.

By the way, while having blue LEDs on the holes is somewhat pointless, touching up the blocks to have the fonts match the rest of the board wasn't. For once, a good move on their part. Also, the $ seems to be a bit 3D and its own thing (not on a panel) now, and SWITCHEROO is a lighter shade of blue. A comparison:

The logo looks like it's now using demountable letters as opposed to being painted directly on to the prop. I like the look.

The LEDs...not so much.

Speaking of Roo...what the hell was with the directing? There were way too many awkward crowd shots cut in for no good reason...the focus needs to be on the contestant playing the game, not the audience. Especially when most of the shots were just random wide shots of audience members sitting and watching. That's just like a sports network cutting to a random shot of some random person in the upper deck as the game-winning touchdown is being thrown...it causes the action to become disjointed and hard to follow. There's nothing wrong with sticking with tried-and-true methods.

"Nobody cares about the guest stars." - Roger Dobkowitz

"Change isn't always good. Sometimes changing things is a terrible mistake." - Bob Barker

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

Actually, if they did the stock wide shot, I'm guessing it was to cover something up.  They've done that in the past for that very reason--remember the wheelchair contestant?  While they wheeled him around back and up on stage, they cut to a pickup of the audience applauding.  Given how heavily the show is edited today, my guess is they were trying to disguise an edit of some kind.
