At least for today, "Big Money" meant "...in one pricing game of the first half plus a BMW in a Showcase".

Richards can rest easy now, having avoided the budget scare of giving away the BMW or the $250,000 in Punch-A-Bunch (was any mention made of this money being provided by something that is not the budget?), instead giving out the all-trip Showcase (which precedent suggests will be turned down due to taxes) and $1,000 respectively.

The only part of this episode I saw on TV was the two(?) consecutive $1,000 wins on the Big Wheel.

Since I know everyone will complain about only 1 Game being for "Big Money" I'm going to throw this out there. $250,000 is 1/4th of $1,000,000. On MDS's, Prizes were about 4x more than what they were today, see, the ratio fits guys :P

REALLY Great show today, not just because of all the wins, but the quality was very good.

PaB: At least James didn't bottom out. I doubt the grand prize slip reveal will carry over to the regular playings, but never say never.

    Bargain: Easy.

AN: As soon as Chelsea called that 6, she was home free to that car!

Double: Looks like it was set up to be lost, but wasn't.

OA: John came closer to winning that than I think he should have.

Clock: A few stumbles, but a nice playing by Carl.

Showcases: I thought Carl had it won; now, we'll never know how much that Monterey trip cost.

    Fine start to this week.

I was extremely happy that Drew showed where the big money was hiding.

What a great show!  Take away the big money in Punch a Bunch - and the BMW in the Showcase - and this show was STILL great.  Memorable contestants, nail-biter moments (four right in One Away will do that every time), and great wins (excellent Clock Game playing, excellent Any Number playing) make this one worth watching.

Now if they could just stop spoiling during the second Showcase Showdown.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

Well, this is the first day of Big Money Week (aka The Week Where Pay The Rent Isn't "All That". Hopefully...............):

    THE BAD NEWS:

OA: John did came close but no cigar..........Personally, I thought he should've changed that last number to a 1.

    THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

Punch-A-Bunch: I really did like James' enthusiasm when he found out that he could win $250K..........He kept going until he end up with a grand, unfortunately. However, he did won another grand on the wheel and his SC.

    THE GOOD NEWS:

A#: Chelsea did great on it!

Bargain Game: Too damn easy........But I liked how the contestant expressed his love for Manuela and Amber.

Clock Game: The Luck Of The Irish was on Carl's side.......He had a  flub or two, but he did played it well!

Double Prices: Same with Bargain..........Easy setup and win!

A good way to start the week...........Hopefully it'll be like that throughout the week.

You know, this managed to be a pretty good show without the gimmick :) Exciting, well played wins (Any Number and Clock Game), fun contestants (Bargain Game, One Away), Drew doing OK once the gimmick was over - who needs $250k Punch? It was certainly interesting to see an increased amount of 5s and 10s for one playing but as this playing showed when the big prize is so huge, it doesn't really matter. We will probably see this in action to an even bigger extent later this week if Pay the Rent was paid for an inflated prize.

Are we getting huge showcases this week too? That BMW could have been won pretty easily, you know. The showcase wasn't ridiculously high like some have been and the other had loaded trips. Guess they really want to go broke this week :)

    Timings:
    Punch A Bunch (5.5) - 6:15
    Bargain Game (3.5) - 3:16
    Any Number (5) - 3:52
    Double Prices (3) - 2:11
    One Away (6) - 4:48
    Clock Game (4.5) - 3:28
    Total (27.5): 23:50

Didn't catch Punch a Bunch this morning, what did the distribution chart look like? Aside from the single $250,000 slip?

1 $250,000 (Drew revealed it was in the 9th slot in the third row)
    9 $10,000
    15 $5,000 (first 2 punches)

    10 $1,000 (last punch)
    5 $500

    Yes it was.
Punch A Bunch:  I don't blame James for going for the $250,000.
    One Away:  Bummer! :-(

    Good show overall, IMHO.

Too bad that Big Money Week couldn't start off with some actual big money, as James had a 2/3 chance to punch one of the top two amounts.  Statistically speaking, he also made the right move to keep going unless one of those two values was achieved.  The game was clearly winnable because four punches were easily achieved, which bodes well for the rest of the week.  I'm quite sure that the show was required to demonstrate where the top prize was due to the large amout itself or the insurance policy.

The rest of the show was pretty good, with double dollars and plenty of wins.  If you missed the first pricing game, you wouldn't even know that this was a special show.  I do question the choice of Bargain Game in the second slot for Big Money Week, and it was a bit jarring to transfer from a quarter of a million dollars up for grabs to $5,000 in total prizes.  John had a couple of legitimate choices for numbers to change in One Away, but the 0 wasn't one of them.

The Showcases probably finished as intended - three trips to fairly expensive places to ensure an underbid but not as much as a luxury car might produce.

Wasn't it cool to see the car won in Any Number with the second digit picked last? :)

I thought it was a rare event until I realized that it happened this season already.

Lucky choices by Chelsea for that to turn out the way that it did.

It's interesting how they revealed the big one in PaB. I always wondered why they didn't do it on regular shows, maybe they'll start. But do you think they usually KNOW where the big slip is? I know that in the very early days of the bonus wheel on WOF, Pat would always show where the big one ($100k) was. He would still do it occasionally if they landed right next to it. And he still does it if they have the Million Dollar Wedge.
