Nothing was good about this leftover........Except Robert winning a car at the end.

Bottom line: SKUNKED!!

SIDE NOTE: I really want to take back about what I said on the chat about Robert and his handling on Squeeze. It's just that this wasn't the first time jet ski was presented on Squeeze this season. I guess it wasn't the matter of him getting rid of the goose egg (Then again, when was the last time a jet ski is worth $16K+, anyway?); it was the matter of me calling him a idiot. I was totally in the wrong with that, and I want to apologize for that.

I missed most of the show, I guess I didn't miss too much with only Punchboard saving it from an outright skunking.
2nd place, 2011 CSS playoffs.     QSW, 3/27/17, 1/15/18. Exacta, 5/14/21.

That second Showcase had me fooled a bit. After knowing what the theme was, and seeing a safari, I thought for sure they'd offer a Jaguar (luxury automobile) in that Showcase. But then the Kia is revealed.

Overall, worst show of the week, despite that intense Triple Play (first time in 3 years) and $500 won in Punch a Bunch. Not necessarily a skunking in my books, but winless, nonetheless.

And about Triple Play, we'll have better luck next season.

Thank goodness that Squeeze Play player made up for his mistake by winning that Kia in the Showcase.

Are the three cars of Triple Play normally supposed to be in the $17,000-$22,000 range?

For a Showcase revolving around the word "Jaguar", did it not occur to anyone at the show that the final prize should be...a Jaguar?
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

They really dropped the ball on that................But this (much like the Start Your Engines SC weeks ago) was hardly a excuse for that, if at all.

For the Mike era, yes. You won't see the 3rd car be anything too high, because he wants it overpriced.

I'm glad TP actually did go on some type of rotation this season. Now we need to ramp it up so it gets more than 3 playings.

I can't say I was surprised not to see a Jaguar in the second Showcase after seeing Triple Play.  If I were the contestant and the show hadn't already featured a Big 3(4) playing, then yeah, I would have felt let down.

Remember what I said in the "easiest way to force a loss" thread regarding Triple Play?  Prime example right here.

Yeah, today was a skunking, any way you slice it.  In Punch-A-Bunch you are going to win money unless you get no prices correct.  I don't see how it's even debatable unless the contestant would have won $10K or maybe even $5K, and even then it wouldn't have been considered a win.

I would have won both Showcases on the first one.  Those safari-type trips can be all over the place, though... there's no way I would have come close.

I still don't see how a Mini Cooper is a tricky, overpriced car. You would expect a muscle car or SUV.

Well, look, it's another missing big 3 that probably wouldn't be missing if it were won! Still, it was exciting viewing, and it's not like it was a close loss. I probably would have set up that Corolla 17k/21xxx to make SURE it was gotten, but the 2nd car was definitely fine, and easier than the first.

Other than that though, this was one of the worst shows of the season, and right in the middle of a brutal 2-16 stretch from 6231-33 (finished 7-23 that week overall). The only really easy setup, ME, was blown. Then we had Cover, which was set up very unusually with the 2nd digit not obvious AND the 4th and 5th digits not low, and of course we finally get a contestant that actually picks some of those low numbers! Arrgh. And a pretty bad lineup despite TP too, right in the middle of a rough stretch of them. Still, I wasn't expecting anything much out of this show after they actually moved the 1/6 6231 to air in its place and bumped this to now. Here's hoping we end the leftovers better tomorrow.

Timings:
Triple Play (6) - 6:20
Squeeze Play (3.5) - 2:56
Most Expensive (3.5) - 3:36
Punch A Bunch (5.5) - 5:48
Side By Side (3.5) - 3:16
Cover Up (5) - 4:56
Total (27): 26:50

I'm referring to putting the lowest price as the correct answer on the last car.  You are right in that the third car is usually significantly pricier than the other two, though.

There's nothing wrong with setting it up this way, you can expect it every time in the Mike era. It's just that the DOB would usually let things go sometimes (even making the highest right in one notable case). Mike just can't let go because he overbudgets every show with designer crap and his SCs.

I don't see why every pricing game has to be classified as a win or a loss, with no grey in between.  Not that I'm really going to argue it today--I don't have the fight in me to argue over a mere $500--but I don't see why $10,000 in Punch a Bunch couldn't simply count as neither a win nor a loss.  Doesn't have to be one or the other.

You know, I kinda' wish Super Ball!! were still around, just to see what kind of debates we got from how inevitably no one here would agree on what counted as a win or loss or something in between :oldlol:!

Triple Play and Cover Up were both quite entertaining, even if ultimately lost.

Isn't there a whole section in the FAQ to describe partial wins? Sounds like gray to me.
