That white floor on the reverse side of the turntable looks dumb though.

Unless, I missed something, that white area is on the entire rotating platform - front and back.

Can someone put up a screenshot of the shiny blue floor?

My intuition on the off-white area is it's designed to cover up any scratches in the new floor. You figure those turntable games must weight a decent amount, made of wood and metal (perhaps?), it'd be easy enough to scuff up the new floor loading and unloading all those props.

So we begin Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the usual TPiR special, but this occasion has a lot more meaning for me and my family than ever before.  Watching and listening to the stories of the contestants who survived this terrible cancer today sent chills down my spine, for they helped me to cope with my own mother's fight against breast cancer.  Next year, I'd like to make it my personal goal to be able to bring her out to L.A. to see next year's special being taped--even if it wipes me outta money in the process.

As for the gameplay, it was obvious that every game had a setup that was winnable.  Lucky Seven was a gimme, as was Bullseye and One Wrong Price.  Yet the overall prize selection could've been a tad more expensive throughout the entire show and not just that second Showcase.  Speaking of which, I didn't even think those trips and Fiat convertible would total out to nearly $40K in price.
I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your love, affection and loyalty to me, drew, the models and.... The Price is Right....thank you for being such a "Loyal Friend & True". -Rich Fields (in an e-mail sent to me on 3/17/2010)

I support The Price is Right...even if nobody I know likes Drew Carey.

If that were the purpose, wouldn't a darker color make a lot more sense than near-white?

Why not just have it on the game side then?  At least then you wouldn't notice it.  There's no games that use the front side of the turntable anymore, either.  Unless they're planning on bringing back Give or Keep, or Superball, which I wouldn't mind either coming back. :)

The first thing I thought of was maybe a turntable game could have a solution reflected off the floor before the reveal, allowing the contestant to "cheat.". Are there any turntable games whose solution can be viewed from behind the board / in front?

Another thought that came to my mind...that new floor is very reflective.  Perhaps it's off-white to prevent any glare off the floor from a flashing game board?  I'm thinking of something like a Now or Then win.  It would make sense for the front as well because of the chase lights around the dollar sign.

And off white does not bode well for contestants wearing black tennis shoes.

I see Lucky Seven was on easy mode today, which is fine. We kind of needed it too, since the contestants dropped the ball on perfectly fair setups--that's got to be the first time I've seen a Bullseye wipeout. And Cover Up was fair but lost more to bad luck than anything. (Well, maybe not using the strategy, but who does that anymore? :P )

Actually, one thing that today's Bullseye made me think is that it's a game that would be played very differently if contestants knew about the hidden bullseye rule; contestants would be more likely to go low rather than high in order to keep as many second chances as possible. However, no one is ever told of this rule on-stage--and really, they shouldn't--so it's really a bonus either for LFaT's or for anyone who perhaps can figure it out based on the setpiece or something. Just an observation.

What's really bugged me so far this season on The Price is Right is not just the bad breaks on pricing games that have gone against the contestants, but boneheaded contestants shooting themselves in the foot by making boneheaded decisions that end up costing Drew 1 or 2 more wins, especially on seemingly winnable pricing games like Bullseye and Cliffhangers.

Last week, it was the Cliffhangers fiasco, Today, it was a wipeout on a pricing game you'd think contestants would be able to win easily, but Ladora made three bad purchases.

When will contestants stop mistaking Bullseye for Grocery Game, and when will they learn that you can NEVER take any pricing game too lightly, no matter how winnable it appears to be?

There is no way this should have been a 2-out-of-6er.  Lucky $even and Coming or Going both ended with 5s, both prices in Double Cross ended with 5, Cover Up ended with a 0, Bullseye was played...seriously, this could realistically have been a perfect show, and yet we somehow ended up with four losses.  They finally set a special up correctly, and it doesn't work.  Go figure.

I loved seeing the Barker logo all over the place today.

Giuliana...wow.  I realize she wasn't really booked because they thought she'd be a good model or anything like that, but holy crap was she not a good model.  Her performance was comparable to Jeannie and Alicia.

I see the used the remix of The Bean Stalker today.  It still blows.

They put zero effort in the lineup though. It's not like anything happened today that was going to take extra time - they even had a 2-prize SC. Two of the quickest car games, a regular length GP, no SP and three quickies just smacks of "we don't care". We could have played Plinko instead of a quickie today, that's how under we were.

Well, they obviously used the time for something -- there was a whole extra minute of show today, and they still had to edit out part of the Showcase reveal.

When will contestants stop mistaking Bullseye for Grocery Game

Apparently today, since that isn't what happened.

and when will they learn that you can NEVER take any pricing game too lightly, no matter how winnable it appears to be?

...Okay, dude.  You're gonna need to start posting things that make more sense than this pretty soon.  You make it sound like the contestants got beaten up by the mountain climber because they didn't realize how dangerous he was, or because they were too busy focusing on the knife the hurdler was wielding, or something like that.  This sort of nonsense never leads to a useful discussion.

Honestly, if I were a contestant that had only watched TPiR here and there, and I was playing Bullseye and hearing Bob/Drew explain the game to me, I wouldn't think that it's an easy game. I mean, I have to find the exact multiple of an item that gets me in a two-dollar range? Sure, someone good at math could at least work out some ranges, but I don't think most contestants are in the mental state to figure that out; they're probably just making guesses from their gut.

The reasons Bullseye is "easy"--that is, it has such a high win rate--are probably that A. with three tries, there's a good chance at least one of their "gut feelings" is correct, and B. there's the "hidden bullseye" rule that does increase your chance of winning significantly... except that no one is told about that rule on-stage unless the game actually reaches that point, so contestants that don't familiarize themselves with the rules of all these games beforehand wouldn't know that Bullseye is made easier in this way.

Not saying that Bullseye is a hard game, but to the average contestant, I doubt it sounds like an "easy" game, either.

Actually, that contestant wasn't to blame for that......She did, however, blamed her mother for making her wipe out...............Maybe she wanted her to bid $45 on the tea kettle.

Nevertheless, we shouldn't blame Ladora or any contestant who do badly, or who just wiped out on PGs. They just made some bad choices or just had bad luck, is all. All Ladora did was made one purchase too many.
