Way to recap the 1000th show, Plinko.  :-)

A 52 day cruise?!?!?  :-o  :-o

Interesting how the second showcase was worth $7777.

I've seen this episode.
I got it from a tape trade April 2005.

Too bad they didn't use an opening like "1,000th Show".

I was kinda shocked to see that there was no balloons around the studio and the audience. Like on the 5,000th and 6,000th show.

Either way, it was still a good show.

A few questions and observations:

* Too bad this, the 1000th show, didn't feature some higher-priced prizes (e.g., a Cadillac Eldorado); have Bob dress in a tuxedo, etc. This is a rather significant show and reason to celebrate. While the prizes were decent enough, they should have gone whole-hog here.

* About when during 1976 did this episode air? And when during the year did TPiR start using the "Family Feud" music as a prize cue?

* What, exactly, did the game set (offered in Poker Game) include? I've seen the card for the prize before on Francini's Web site, but have always wondered what the heck it is.

* Wow — cash offered in BOTH showcases! And a replica George Washington sword — wonder from whom? Franklin Mint or someone?

I'm not surprised at all.  Price never used to celebrate landmarks as much as they do now.

According to the timeline, probably July; either late season 4 or early season 5.  The earliest it could've aired was July 4th.

Very nice recap. Judging by the use of the Family Feud theme I would guess that this was at least the summer of '76, basically late 4th season or early 5th season.
