LeR: W/ those grocery items, it was possible no more rolls could've been earned today. But Jacquelynn got the wipes right & won the 500L in two rolls!

SBS: Easy.

OWP: I would've lost w/ the Daewoo French fridge (given I saw another fridge of theirs only cost $800 a week ago).

L7: Well-played by Brandon! I thought for sure that last digit was 1 after that 9 came up on the third digit.

Check: It's in a similar funk w/ Stack the Deck.

Showcases: IMO, Drew needs to stop complaining about the possible DOB after one goes over because that spoils the outcome where the other player would win at least their Showcase.

Now this is an ep. that I like this week!

SBS: Easy.
I don't know what universe you live in, but over here on Earth, [61][71] is not an easy Side by Side setup.

Actually, this is an episode that should have been a complete stinker (25.5 minute lineup?  BOO!) but ended up being pretty enjoyable thanks to fun and lucky/smart contestants.  Every game was tough today, too, so I'll gladly take a 4/6.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

My fears of a car game washout this week have been abated.

THE BAD NEWS:

Check Game: Too bad Amy didn't guess $2100 instead. That would've won it.

Take Two: I got duped by those accessories. At least David made a good SC bid (Didn't think that a baby grand piano would be that expensive).

THE GOOD NEWS:

Let 'Em Roll: Luck was definitely on Jacquelynn..............Great job getting the Fiat!

Side By Side: Wasn't too hard of a setup, but it was of a challenge. Good job by Talana!

OWP: While I'm glad Julie won that, I was shocked to think that the fridge wasn't the wrong. It was $800 on Danger Price last week and now it's $2200 on OWP.  :-? :-? :-?

L7: I thought Brandon was awesome on that one. Getting the 4 right on the nose really helped him a lot.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

4/6 wins today and some great contestants! Some of the games were tough but not too tough, and they give a good challenge for the contestants.

Let em Roll. The GPs were tough Getting 1 out of 2 was pretty good. Always great to start a show with a car win.

Side by Side: Reasonable setup and a nice win of a great prize

Take Two: Too bad.

One Wrong Price: This isn't my favorite game but as it had some fantastic prizes today it was an enjoyable win.

Lucky 7: This is 1 of my favorite games. I really like Lucky 7 because as opposed to Gas Money which is just extremely hard,Lucky 7 is a winnable game where when it is won the win is truly earned. Nice consistent good.playing by.today's contestant for an outstanding win. Both car games won yeah!

Check Game: Tough setup. Too bad a really good show ended badly.

Showcases: The better showcase was won.

Overall a very good show today. 4 for 6,both car games won and the better showcase won make for our best show off the week.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I have no idea how this show managed to be a four-out-of-sixer.  Side by Side was a complete crapshoot, Let 'em Roll was the meanest I've ever seen it (harder than Lucky $even, in fact!), 1 Wrøng Price probably wasn't supposed to be won, and there wasn't anything particularly obvious about Take Two.  Hell, the mere fact that both car games were won is nothing short of amazing.

It was really nice to see such great variety in the Showcase prizes for once.  There was a car, there was a trip, there was furniture...hell, there was even a piano!  It actually felt like the old days today.

Let Em Roll: Mike, we need to talk about that GP setup.  That was MEAN!!!  Jacquelynn got one out of two right...I got none.  So happy she made use of her rolls today.

Side By Side: This was a freaking tossup.  I said 6171.  Happy Talana thought otherwise.

Take Two was freaking hard.  I did pick the computer, but the second pick was not easy.  I also pegged the accessories on the second try as David did.

The second half, Mike definitely took his evil pills on that one.

One Wrong Price: I picked the Foosball Table.  Bleh.  Glad Julie stopped Mike by picking the TV--that was my second choice.

Lucky Seven: This was set up for a loss, but it was won!!!  Congrats to Brandon for stopping Mike!!!  I thought that last digit was 2.

Check Game: FORCED loss, plain and simple.  I had the check pegged at $2500.

Pretty good day, especially nice seeing a Piano! and not only that, it was in the Showcases! (AND there was a random living room group too!)

I have no idea why whoever does game setups insists on making Check Game, a 1-prize game that has gone 1-5 so far (now 1-6) so hard.  It's clear there's something fundamentally that contestants don't "get" about it, but having the prize be $5599 and having it look like just another $2999 or $3999 ORV is not very nice.

I have no idea why people are complaining about Take Two, however. It was clear the computer was needed (Unless we had some $4098 Accessories or a bike!), and after that it was a tossup whether you (or the contestant) believed the Bicycle was $1699 or 3 pieces of designer accessories would be $1699.

I somewhat disagree with the notion that Let 'em Roll's set up was hard. Nuts are very expensive. Growing up we could only have cashews at Christmas-time, and I did not have a destitute childhood.

The 7,948th episode (76th for Season 42)

Showcase #1
  • Baby Grand Piano:  $8,399
  • Sofa & Table:  $6,695
  • Chevrolet Spark:  $14,305
My bid:  $28,500 (Difference of $899)

Seems like the Piano was $13,799. Which makes more sense knowing the dinky Sofa & Table shouldn't be worth $6,000+.

Seems like the Piano was $13,799. Which makes more sense knowing the dinky Sofa & Table shouldn't be worth $6,000+.

Based on the actual Piano pricetag, and the Chevrolet Spark price that I have, the Sofa & Table set is actually $1,295.  I have updated my Excel file to reflect that.  And the total of Rob's prizes for that episode is actually $89,211.  I had also adjusted Rachel's total to $64,465 because I had just learned that the Christian Louboutin is $1,670 and Paris is $10,529.
