One thing I'm not clear on, how do the displays in 10 Chances work? Is there some kind of a catch holding the "number options" panel in place, that someone behind the board releases once a correct guess is made or something?

The tenth chance is the last one, so if the price was exposed after pressing that button the first time (in the event of a loss)...well, it would have been standard to press the button again anyway. In that hypothetical scenario, they had given their last guess and were wrong, hence a loss.

As such, your statement confuses me.

If I follow your original argument, if the price is accidently revealed before it is supposed to be the contestant wins the prize without having to use up a chance.

You seem to be backtracking on that now.

This should shed some light.

That is indeed what I said. Precedent has shown that an error by the show is ruled in favor of the contestant...usually.

You seem to be backtracking on that now.
...No, sir. You said (emphasis mine)

My immediate reaction was that they shouldn't have had to use a chance on it. Then I thought about it some more, and decided that if they blooper had happened when the button was pressed on the 10th chance, they would not have been awarded the prize. That led me to change my opinion that they actually needed to use a chance in order to claim the prize.
Your statement was "If the blooper had happened after the tenth chance, it would not have been awarded.", to which I replied with the statement you quoted -- that it would not have been awarded after the tenth chance because...well, it was the last chance. If the blooper happened after the final guess, it does not matter.

Hence, my confusion when you said it changed your opinion.
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

I had to laugh a little when Drew was discussing Lucky $even in terms of choosing any digit 0 through 9... Yeah, I know he can't technically say "1 through 9 because we haven't used a 0 in Lucky $even in forever" (if he's even aware of that), much in the same way that he can't tell contestants that all prices end in 0 in Ten Chances.  Still, I have to laugh!

Speaking of 10 Chances:  I also don't think it was unfair to have made the contestants write down the price of the 3-digit prize, thus using up another chance, in order to win it after the price had been revealed.  They had already made their guess, which was wrong, and then the price was accidentally revealed, just before they were going to slide it up to the next chance/number.  Had the accidental reveal occurred after the price had slid up to the next spot, I suspect this wouldn't have been such an issue.

As for these "couples" shows, they might actually be more interesting if having couples (versus individual contestants) was somehow integral to game play.  I know that TPIR isn't meant to be Double Dare, Beat The Clock, Minute to Win It, etc., but why not do a "tag team" Race Game or Bonkers, with the players alternating turns?  (Then again, with the way we often get "deer in headlights", they may only get 1 chance apiece!).  Similarly, there's no reason why they can't alternate turns/picks on Punchboard, Spelling Bee, Pass the Buck, Gas Money, etc., even if they can confer ahead of time.  And if Phone Home Game were still around, they could even substitute one of the contestants for the home viewer, letting them read off the prices.  I would not recommend this for Clock Game, though, as it would probably confuse the contestants and Drew equally!
