I certainly can't wait until the votes are counted up.  I'm very curious as to which game shows have gone up in rank and which game shows have dropped in rank since 2008.  I have a list of all 65 game shows that made our 2008 list.  I'm pretty sure I know one game show that will drop quite a few places this year.  It was a #5 seed in 2008 and I'm predicting that it will drop to about a #13 or #14 this year.

I hope Jordan doesn't mind if I provide all of the 2008 statistics as the seeds and matches are revealed. :-)
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Sure.  What stats do you mean?

The seeds that every game show had in 2008, the game show(s) that they played against in 2008, and the scores from each 2008 match.  I have all of that information readily available.

Just over a week to go... right now there are 64 shows that have at least three votes, but I want to get it up to 68.  Get those lists in before it's too late!

Hello,

As I indicated in my first post in Make Your Mark, one of the reasons I made an account here (after lurking for about a year or so) was to take part in this sort of thing.  (I remember reading, as a guest, BRB_TheFireball's thing about guessing #1 through #10 hits of the 80's last summer through 10-second clips, and thinking 'that's quite fun'.  Obviously I do look forward to following TPIR news and other things, too.)

Anyway, to the point at hand.  In no particular order, thirty American game shows that I enjoyed watching:

  • Jeopardy!
  • Wheel of Fortune
  • Family Feud
  • Sale of the Century
  • Card Sharks
  • Match Game
  • Press Your Luck
  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
  • Greed
  • Password
  • Win Ben Stein's Money
  • Beat the Geeks
  • Supermarket Sweep
  • Scrabble
  • High Rollers
  • Pyramid
  • Chain Reaction
  • Legends of the Hidden Temple
  • Blockbusters
  • Stump the Schwab
  • Russian Roulette
  • Winning Lines
  • Tic Tac Dough
  • The Joker's Wild
  • Concentration
  • The Chair
  • Catch 21
  • Hollywood Squares
  • Let's Make A Deal

(Since no one else seems to be posting a list, and since I will be away next weekend, I'm speeding it up and we'll get to the first matches later today.)

26 voters have spoken, and the field of 68 is set!  A total of 67 game shows have received three votes or more, and one great show seemed to slip through the cracks to get no votes.  That show will get an "at-large" bid, and we'll find out which one it is when it is revealed.

Before we get to the start of the tournament, let's reveal the #1 seeds!

In first place, garnering all 26 votes is...

Jeopardy!!

(Two exclamation points, one for the title and one for emphasis. :-D)

The second #1 seed, getting 25 votes is...

Wheel of Fortune!

The third top seed, with 24 votes is...

Pyramid!

And the final #1 seed, also getting 24 votes is...

Press Your Luck!

Keep in mind that even though I only listed the predominant title for each show, every version of the show is accounted for.  For example, Press Your Luck represents "Second Chance", "Press Your Luck", and "Whammy!".

Thank you to all who voted, and please continue to participate as much as possible as we move through the summer! :-)

"Jeopardy!" was the overall #1 seed in 2008, as well.

"Wheel of Fortune" was the last #1 seed in 2008, so it has moved up to the second #1 seed.

"Pyramid" and "Press Your Luck" were the finalists in the 2008 tournament, so it only seemed appropriate that they would get the other #1 seeds.  Interestingly, neither one was a #1 seed then.  "Pyramid" was a #3 and "Press Your Luck" was a #2.
