TTM: What? Somebody underpriced a Camaro?

Bargain: Easy.

Shell: Should've gone w/ the middle shells (especially #3, where the ball was located).

SBS: Fairly easy.

Cu: FANTASTIC playing by Thomas! This was the 3rd five-try playing in history & I was worried we might finally a loss in this situation.

Grand: Hard.

Showcases: Thomas should've passed the first one.

Good show today.

What an amazing show today. Roderick was truly awesome.

Nice to see Shell Game again, too bad it was lost.

Excellent playing of Cover Up going right down to the wire. The winning reaction by Thomas was awesome.

So apparently Roderick is related to 2 time price contestant Percy, who appeared on the show in 2002 and in 2012. He wore the same gloves when he appeared in 2012.

EDIT: Here he is on today's show.

I'm calling Roderick contestant of the year.

So glad Thomas won Cover, a loss would have been a huge letdown.

2nd place, 2011 CSS playoffs.     QSW, 3/27/17, 1/15/18. Exacta, 5/14/21.

Fantabulous show today!

THE BAD NEWS:

TTM: I had a feeling they would start with the $17K price for the Camaro......That probably was a easy setup and it was funny that I would bring up this, in regards of that said setup.

Shell Game: Seems a little too challenging with the tool set and vacuum sealer.

Grand Game: Well.........at least Maxine is a now dollar richer.  :P The Ovaltime really made things worse when it came to that $5.00 target price. I thought that wasn't a good setup IMHO.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Side By Side: Great win by Rachel (the contestant, not the model)!

Cover Up: The newest theme just seems so........meh. But not the gameplay, though. How cool was it for Thomas to chip away like that? However, I don't think I remember Tacoma being worth $26K+. But it was still a incredible win!

Bargain Game: Easy setup and win by Roderick.......And he won a boat, too!

So apparently Roderick is related to 2 time price contestant Percy, who appeared on the show in 2002 and in 2012. He wore the same gloves when he appeared in 2012.

EDIT: Here he is on today's show.

I had a feeling he looked familiar...........And should we surprised that Percy won the gloves again? Even to this day, I still don't know what's up with that? At least Roderick was less annoying than Percy.......He was a great contestant today. And he's also a cancer survivor, too. Plus, that voice made me feel like that Barry White was on the show.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

3 wins today, but it was still awesome, nonetheless!

My two cents:

That's Too Much: Tough break. I always thought that was an easy set-up with that Camaro on the line. (I'm surprised there were no losing horns)
Bargain Game: Roderick is one heck of a contestant. One of the best we've had all season. And congrats to him on winning Bargain Game and his trip & boat Showcase! (the more superior one)
Shell Game: So much for Shell Game's perfect record.
Side by Side: Good win.
Cover-Up: What a play by Thomas! Right down to the wire!
Grand Game: Tough break.

Also, there was no MRRRRRP! from that Grand Game wipeout, oddly enough.

If I recall there was actually a ding. That combined with Drew's reaction and the fact I had forgotten what the target price was left me in a state of confusion.

Looking back at it, there was a 1) Ding; 2) Losing Horns; 3) Buzz, in that order. I was momentarily confused as well, also do to forgetting what the target price had been.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

I certainly agree. Great Cover Up win!

I'm not sure if Drew knew where the ball was in Shell (seemed like he didn't), but if I was hosting and knew beforehand where it was today, I would have started at the contestant's end and went down the line with the reveals, of course pausing with commentary for some sort of effect at the last two shells. :)

That's Too Much: That Chevy Camaro certainly called for going at least 1 more slot. Had today's contestant stopped at $23623 it would have been a somewhat more reasonable loss but $21962 was clearly too soon. That Lenovo Computer was a nice contestants row prize though.

Bargin Game: Not my favorite prizes but nice to see a win. This was setup to be won.

Shell Game: This was 1 of those games that really have gone either way. Today a "middle strategy" would have worked out better than going for than ends. That tool set was a real tough setup. It's not unusual for a tough SP or 2 in Shell Game but that 1 seemed particularly tough even by Shell Game standards. Too bad the Key Largo trip wasn't won.

Side By Side: Setup to be won without being too easy. That Ashley living room was a nice prize and it was nice to see it won.

Cover Up; The highlight of the show today for sure. The interesting thing about this playing is that today's contestant would have lost on his 2nd turn if he had gotten the 2nd digit right on his 1st try but by getting that number wrong on the 1st try it allowed him to use it as his right number on his 2nd try to keep playing and that ultimately led him to a win. This playing was a beautiful demonstration of a great Cover Up playing and it had 1 of the most suspenseful endings I've ever seen in this game. What an exciting moment when the Toyota Tacoma was finally won.

Grand Game: Well it's a big letdown whenever we get a wipeout. Bummer of a way to end things.

Showcases: The Kia Soul showcase was the better showcase and it's too bad it wasn't won.

Lineup: Pretty good. That's Too Much isn't a good lead off hitter but Grand Game is a good closer as well as 1 of or best GP games/ game. and Shell Game is 1 of our best SP games. And Side by Side is far better than the similar Double Prices and Coming or Going. There weren't any games I don't care for today we had some very strong games in the lineup and the slotting was pretty good. TTM just isn't great when slotted 1st.

Overall: That Cover Up segment was so good that this is 1 of our best 3 for 6 shows.

Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I sounds like that there was a subsitute/new person in the control booth as during the one bids, Drew would sometimes say the prices one digit at a time, and that ding during Grand Game without the horn makes it more obvious.

One Bids: Decent prize mix today, except for the fact that there were two designer accessory prizes. Blue was the hot seat today. Minnie should have 1'upped Suzanne on the Trampoline to avoid the wipeout though.

That's Too Much!: Roderick would have made a better contestant based on the famous shout, but instead we get another lampshaded loss.

Bargain Game: Gimmie. I wouldn't pay $3300 for an exercise bike though.

Shell Game: The mini-vacuum strikes again! The BBQ tools did feel like they should have been higher though. Looks like they are back to the original ball again.

Side By Side: Pretty simple today.

Cover Up: I never thought he would win after forking the second digit on the first try since I was afraid he would select 6 next, which would have resulted in a game over. But nice win here and good to see this game getting some wins as of late.

Grand Game: Classic items always appreciate in value, and this wasn't a friendly setup today, especially with the cleaner also a safe pick. But generally speaking, if a product is generic, it tends to be cheaper. Maybe Maxine could use that buck to buy a PS2 sports game at a thrift shop?

Showcase Showdowns: Nothing special today.

Showcases: Westin is located in a touristy area and is only moderately priced despite the perception of New York being expensive. That combined with a Kia is ripe for overbids. But I'm glad Roderick won his showcase, that's a decent boat and Costa Rica is a nice place to visit.

Overall: Roderick and the Cover Up are two reasons why this episode felt good to watch, and let's hope the momentum can build.

Show Grade: B-

Holy man, was Cover Up ever awesome.  It really came down to the wire, and Drew was completely on top of his game for it.  That was absolutely fantastic television.

Roderick was something else, too.  He was quite the character and someone you were really happy to see do a lot of winning.
