This was hardly a Mother's Day special, but it was a good show, either way.

THE BAD NEWS:

L7: It's one thing to have a Mikestopper price for the Sonic, but it's another to have Jerry and Linda played the game for.............the Sonic. A real double whammy on the only solid loss of today.

THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

MoL (It's Always LESS!!!  :P): The one time a couple of contestants like Ameia and Menyon to trust on their guts..........The audience was the ones that got it right. Hell, even I got it right on the car. In hindsight, Lancers are not expensive to begin with.........That was made to be won.

THE GOOD NEWS:

1/2 Off: I knew the 10 grand was in #5.

Push Over and Switch?: Total "gimmes" for Jonathan/Janet and Susan/Anthony! Good SC win by Susan and Anthony!

CheckOut: Alcie and Taylor won by 15 cents!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This was a good show..........but I think that it was hardly a special today. I did enjoy George's mother and that was nice. But still, it really did fell short, much like the one from last season. Getting two cheap cars and Goddard isn't really enough. They could've also gotten a TV mom as well. Despite that, this was a great show, even though there were no solid car game wins.

I don't understand, how this was not a Mother's Day special? There was an audience full of Mothers and their children and they played in pairs together. (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm asking a serious question)

I mean, I did notice the mothers today and that was nice, too. It just seemed that it was almost a tad like a regular show, but it did really had much more of the feel of a special show today, so it was basically a combination of the two. That's not saying I didn't enjoy it because I totally did..........And it did have some great contestants and Drew did a great job as well.

Please do not take that the wrong way, OK?

You're free to have your own opinion and not like a show for any reason you wish (even though you did like it, I'm just speaking in general there's no need to apologize for your opinion on any given episode), I just was confused what you meant when you said it wasn't a Mother's Day Special. Now I understand, thanks.

I myself didn't like this episode too much, and I'll go into more detail later on when I have a chance to re-watch and make sure I saw what I thought I did. :P

Isn't this the second day in a row we've seen both showcases be basically a trip and a car? Yesterday they threw in a tote bag and today it was a watch. How about a bit more creativity/variety?

Also, I was particularly irritated by all the screaming and crowd noise, made worse today (I suppose) by the special occasion and by having all of the contestants (double the usual number) miked.  :-x     Sustained yelling and hooting during the description of the British Columbia trip? Really??

That has to be the most expensive 1st prize ever for MOL.
Certainly the most expensive one I can recall seeing. I wonder why that particular order today; the least expensive prize is usually offered first.

My two cents:

1/2 Off: Way to kick things off with a perfect game!
Lucky Seven: Tough break. Reasonable price, though. Today's only full loss. But at least this team got $1,000 on the Big Wheel.
Push Over: Good win.
More or Less: Not every day the most expensive non-grand-prize is the first prize. And not every day you see a Mitsubishi offered. Too bad it wasn't won today. So close!
Check Out: Only 15 cents off! What a win!
Switch: Good win. And they won $1,000 on the Big Wheel and a Fiat Showcase! (although the VW Jetta Sport Wagon Showcase was the more superior)

And it's great to have George's mother in this episode, as well!

I believe this is the first time the first three prizes didn't appear in order of price from lowest to highest in More or Less. That Check Out win is not the closest Drew has ever seen, a contestant was right on the nose of the grand total on the 7/4/2008 episode.

I agree! I remember this episode, and it was the most incredible check out win I've ever seen in my life. The difference of only 15 cents is the closest I've seen since the exacta happened on that day.

I can't remember, but I thought sometime last year, an older contestant was off by 13 cents (though it also might've been 18 cents, I can't quite remember).
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Pretty good show overall today.  Everybody who got on stage won something eventually, we went 4/6, and Daniel Goddard did a pretty good job.  Only major flub was the cut to Daniel gave away 1/2 Off before the reveal.

That being said, unless that shot was an edit, does that mean they roll out the prizes for 1/2 Off on stage before the reveal, as well?

OK, my notes about today's show...let's see where to begin.

Overall it was pretty meh. Yes it was 4/6 but it just didn't feel that great. Drew wasn't as good as he could have been, and both car games were lost like they usually are. 1/2 Off's setup was probably the single easiest setup I have ever seen that game have, in at least a couple years. Push Over was pretty easy too, just had to avoid overpricing Fiji at $9000+. Check-Out was fairly easy enough, and Switch? was pretty simple as well. As far as the car games go, I'm not really sure if they were meant to be won or not. Lucky $even wasn't as bad as it could have been, usually they like to go real high and real low (with both a 1 and a 9 somewhere in there, or 2/8, etc.) to guarantee a loss, but this one was less difficult, but still hard nonetheless. More or Less had two really easy prizes, but then the iPad's could have been lost and I thought they were going to say More (even though I knew it was Less), and then the car was Less as usual in that game.

Gameplay aside, two contestants annoyed me today. I normally don't criticize any contestants, maybe once or twice in a whole season, but today was different. Jerry & Linda came off, Jerry mainly, to me, as a bit "fake" in some of their/his actions. Maybe they were genuinely really excited about every single prize, but some of their reactions came off as fake enthusiasm to me. Too be fair, it might have been the producers that urged them to do big reactions to everything. Nothing personal against them, it just came off to me as something that was put on for TV. (FWIW, I'm mostly referring specifically to the Showcases)
