I believe you answered your own question, sir. As far as I know they serve no other purpose - what else could they be for?

I asked this, but can I definitively remember the answer?

I know for a fact that the lights do not signal which keys do what, as they're not wired to be activated by anybody offstage. If I remember correctly, they're simply there as a visual indicator that electricity is flowing to the game properly (since that part of the game has to be wheeled out and plugged in after the prizes are revealed, there's no way to test the locks before they're activated on-air by the contestant). There are multiple bulbs for redundancy.

Hmm, I swore I read somewhere they were a signal, but now I know that is indeed not the case.

After some quick digging I found this:

They may be nothing more than a power indicator, notifying the staff that the prop is on.

I believe someone once posted that this is indeed the case.

So it seems like these 3 posts corroborate that they are just there to make sure the prop is powered/working/"on". That kinda makes more sense I guess.

Balance Game: I knew a Fiat wouldn't be close to $20000 so I knew it was between $16995 and $17995. It seemed like a 50-50 shot. I would have won but this was an understandable loss as it was really a 50-50 crapshoot/ Bummer to start out with a loss.

2 for the Price of 1: Not my favorite prizes but nice to see a win. The 5 as the 1st digit was obvious. I'd have taken the 3rd number for free and won be going with 2 as the 2nd digit.

Bonkers: Today's contestant didn't waste time polling the peanut gallery and 5 guesses isn't too bad. That Ashley bedroom was a nice prize and it's ashamed it wasn't won but today's contestant played the game reasonably well.

Shopping Spree: After Drew said today's contestant explained the rules to him during the prize copy reading I was really rooting for him to win. Unfortunately Shopping Spree becomes very anticlimactic if a 3 digit price shows up on the 1st pick.  The washer/dryer set was nice but I wasn't crazy about the other prizes. I'm not a fan of designer accessories period. And to me a good laptop has to be at least 15 inches. I'd also like at least 6G RAM.

Squeeze Play: Nice win of a nice D.C. trip.

Master Key: Awesome to see the master key chosen! I'm not a coffee fan and much preferred the cakes of a few weeks ago but the fridge was a nice prize and of course the Hyundai Elantra SE was the main thing. That royal blue of the Hyundai Elantra SE looked fantastic on TV as well.

Showcases: Not a great day for showcases but the Austria showcase that was won was the better showcase and very good bid by today's winning contestant.

Lineup: Pretty good: Bonkers is always fun. 2 for the 1 is a nice change of pace when played once in a while and I was happy to see it today. I'm not a Squeeze Play fan but it slots well 5th. Balance Game is a pretty good lead off hitter. I'm not keen on Master Key 6th even though it worked out today. Master Key becomes a huge letdown if no keys are won and a huge bummer if only the dud key is won. Now,Master Key does give us some of our most exciting wins so it wound up being a great way to finish today but because it is a game that features losses that are bigger letdowns/bummers than most games I'd rather it not be 6th. However looking at the whole lineup I'd have left it 6th today because the other 5 games were all slotted very well.

Overall: 3 for 6 finishing with back to back wins and the awesome Master Key segment made this a good show.

I also notice that they played a different sound effect when Drew placed the Bag on the scale in Balance Game.

Not so much a different sound as a wrong sound -- there are two different sound effects that alternate as the scales balance at the end of the game, and someone turned on the second one instead of the first one.
