I see they wanted the contestant to make it to the end of the Golden Road. 2nd prize only had one obvious number of the 3 options.

While it was nice to see GR set up fairly to get all the way to the end, can we please cut the garbage with always having a low number be right for the big prize? For goodness' sake the game is on a 6 year winless streak - if I ran the show, I would probably be trying to fix that even if it meant a few extra losses here and there.

Anyone else notice the oddness of having trips to Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine on the same show?

1- $23,404

2- $32,753 - bit of a garf for him. :P

The Bentley from earlier this season didn't have a low number as the missing number in the price of the grand prize. It's only a mere coincidence that the lowest number was right.

Here are the Showcase ARPs:

1- $23,404

2- $32,753 - bit of a garf for him. :P
Somehow, I had a feeling her overbidding was the reason why Christopher bid so low.

My two cents:

Golden Road: For a second there, I thought she was gonna win that Corvette! I had the 1 (only by guess, not by nonexistent pattern) Well, we'll get it next time. But at least she got everything else with ease (I'm betting they want this non-winning streak to end), including a $9,000 hot tub! (I'm surprised that she didn't touch the Corvette for good luck when Drew told her to) And this is GR's 4th playing this season. Beats last season and the season before.
Double Prices: Good win.
Safe Crackers: Another good win! And he won the sailboat Showcase, as well! (I'm beginning to think $9,500 was a good bid, since I knew his opponent overbid (because the car was a Kia Soul with manual transmission))
Range Game: I would've lost painfully. But kudos to her!
Make Your Move: Piece of cake!
Let 'em Roll: Well, at least she got $1,500.

Showcases: Though both Showcases are great, I'm not into Kias (unless it's the Optima or the K900). I prefer the sailboat Showcase.

It's not coincidence at all, it is how they set up the final prize to be lost. And, unfortunately, it has worked every time. All 3 Season 41 cars we saw had the lowest price as the right one, as well as all the cars we saw in Season 39 (even though we only saw 1 heh, and we saw 0 in Season 40!), but we don't know that it is setup every single time that way to be fair - since we haven't seen all car prices/setups due to the nature of the game but it is clear to say it is how they set it up when they want it to be lost. It is possible they wanted the Bentley to be won, since it was "Big Money Week" they wanted a win so they didn't make it as evil as it could have been. (And they probably figured it would still be lost considering even randomly there's only a 1-in-4 shot.)

“For the premiere of season 30, CBS wanted to do a special primetime show. However, they asked that we also add a gimmick or a twist to make it truly special. I came up with the suggestion of taking the show on the road for the first time in its history." - Roger Dobkowitz

For those TPIR MDT and West Coast viewers: Did the guy who bid $9,500 win his Showcase or not?

I also hope the next Golden Road playing will be sometime after TPIR Season 43 starts and hopefully its since 2008 losing streak will end. Heck, there has not been a Triple Play win since 2008 as well.

And why would a contestant bid $9,500 on his Showcase? Does he think he is living in 1980 or something?

Likely in case the opponent would go over.

Anyway, this has been quite a week, hasn't it? More wins than non-wins. That's for sure.

OK, so I am Christopher.

Here is where the $9,500 came from:

Before the Showcase, the stage director gives us instructions about where to look and advises us not to double overbid. He tells us it makes for a bad end of the show.

I never thought that she would bid on the first showcase, so I was doing the math in my head for that showcase.  When she bid, I thought it was too much.  It was actually closer than I thought.

When my showcase came up, I thought the TV was around $2000 and the trip to vegas was about $3,000.  When the sailboat came up, the only ones I could remember were the 15' and they were around $12000.  So I have a total in my head of about $17000.

I had already bid one dollar in contestants row and lost, so I though I'll bid around $10,000 so I won't overbid, and $9,500 came out of my mouth.  :-[

The studio audience instantly turned on me.  They booed me, and you can where a woman on the broadcast say "WHAT?!?"  They edited out Drew's response of "Well, he might have a good strategy."

But all is well that ends well.

THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

G-R: I guess that this might be the last playing of the season...............Although, I think Mike really threw one helluva bone for today. It seems like he really must want this to be a win this time. I guess he wanted all 3 prizes to be a cakewalk, to say the least, and I knew that the 1 would be the missing number on the 'Vette. At least, Megan did better on it this season than some people (*coughs* Bryce).......But I'm getting sick and tired of Drew making contestants touch (or in Megan's case, kiss) expensive cars that they did not win.......It hardly makes any sense IMHO.

Let 'Em Roll: I guess $1500 is better than nothing.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Range Game: You know, I find it pretty incongruous that a tacky-looking bedroom would cost over $12,000. Any way, nice win by Sorocco!

MYM: A small part of me thought that the Portland trip would be worth $8136.  :P

DP: Normally, that setup would've gone either way with those prices.....But good win by James!

Safe Crackers: Christopher did a good job...........And while I thought it was unusual that he low-balled his SC after noticing what Sorocco bid on hers, that garf really did paid off!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Today's lineup is good, but this was pretty similar from 10/17/13 (Big Money Week Day 4); There was G-R and Roll for the car games (but Roll was in 5th from BMW and today's Roll was in last), no car wins, and a pre-emption (Both came at the worse of times.........but they were important).

Fixed.

It's not that big a deal. It's for good luck. Good luck just didn't happen to Megan on the Big Wheel today.

First off, congrats on the $41K in winnings, sorry your show had to be pre-empted right at reveal. Expect an alumni star coming your way, I've requested one for you.

Second, there have been $12,000 boats, so cannot blame you for that decision.

Third, the director actually advised you not to overbid? I have a serious problem with that personally. If you have any more details, I'd like to hear them.

Thanks.

If you watch the behind the scenes on YouTube, you will see them giving instructions to the Showcase contestants.  It is said to both contestants and before any bidding is done.

I don't think there was anything out of line with his statements, anymore than Drew's comments while contestants are spinning.
