RPG 10/30/14 -- RESULTS
« on: October 30, 2014, 06:33:56 PM »
Over the years, FPG has gone through many rule changes.  One rule that has never changed, though, is this:

Quote
Your FPG card must be sent to me AND ME ONLY via Golden-Road.net private message no later than 8:30 AM Eastern on the morning of the announced game.  For primetime specials in which a game is played, cards are to be sent no later than 6:30 PM Eastern on the night of the announced game.  There will be a 30-minute grace period after the deadline to account for "internet time", but I strongly urge you not to wait until 8:55 AM to submit your cards.  The longer you wait to submit your card, the greater chance you take in your card getting lost or not being accepted at all.  At 9:00 AM sharp, the picks are locked--no exceptions!

I say this because I had to disqualify one player's picks.  He sent them to me at 9:27 AM Eastern--well after I had already posted the frequencies.  This is the first time during my hosting tenure that somebody submitted picks after the deadline.

Despite today being a total crapshoot, most of us actually did pretty good.  Lots of bonus points and bonus cash on the board.  Eight players went ALL-IN.  Six of those gambles paid off.  vadernader got the booby prize for being the only player to miss out on bonus bucks.  He didn't have any key games and his ALL-IN wager flopped.

I rarely go ALL-IN, but when I do, one of two things always happens:  I fail miserably or I go into beast mode.  Today was the latter.  Contestant #3, Vanis, was the day's top winner and made me almost $50,000 in Play-Along bucks.  I was the only player to take the Bag/Most combo for another $20,000.  And I picked two other games to make my first appearance on the medal stand this season.

Only one person did better than me today.  That was OneBidTris, who got his second gold medal of the season.  He was the only player to take the Most/Rat combo for $25,000.  And he was the only other player besides me to pick 4 games.

DJTorgo also finished with his first medal, just narrowly edging out Hag.

Due to episode shuffling, we will not return until November 14.  See you then!

Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Think this may be the first time I finished DFL in an FPG.....horrific start to the season for me, gonna have to take it more seriously now and try to kick things up a notch with smarter picks.

I don't care I got 0-0-0, 15 points is WAY better then nothing espically when I didn't know if my picks were late.

Your picks were very much on time.  A full hour before the deadline.

I can't believe I missed this one. I guess I should pay more attention to schedule changes.

Actually, I'm 99% sure that rule has changed. If I remember correctly, the rule used to be no later than 11:07 AM Eastern to allow for internet time. Obviously, if the rule is 8:30 AM (which I didn't understand why we changed), then the pick is disqualified, but this rule has been different in the past.

Meanwhile, It's in the Bag is the greatest game ever.

...except for as long as I remember (and Willy's old rules confirm), the deadline was actually 8am Eastern...and he took bids until 810.

So, if anything, Fireball's 830 is actually more lenient than the old rules.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.
