Wow... horror film icon Wes Craven has passed away at age 76 after a battle with brain cancer.

Wow, that is sad. I definitely remember him for directing all the Scream movies, especially the A Nightmare on Elm Street series. A legendary horror film icon, indeed. RIP.

(On a side note, I do think he's notable enough for a separate thread. But that's up to the moderators to decide.)

I really didn't know that he had brain cancer...But still, from Nightmare On Elm Street to Scream, Wes Craven was a true film pioneer. RIP

Man... I'm going to miss Wes.  He was a legend in the horror community and created some of the most memorable characters ever seen on screen, including Ghostface and Freddy Kreuger.  I feel like he deserves his own thread, but I digress.  Thanks for all the scary good times you provided, Wes.

I know I'm late, but it's sad to hear Oliver Sacks has died.  He wrote some interesting articles on mental and neurological disorders, including at least one on my idol, Temple Grandin.

I'm a big fan of The Love Bug, and I know Jones was in a number of other Disney films as well. RIP.

Dean Jones was also in Jailhouse Rock with some guy named Elvis... :P

But yes, The Love Bug and That Darn Cat! were classics.  The Million Dollar Duck... not so much.  (Just ask Gene Siskel.  That was the first film he walked out on.)

Thanks for all of the great movie memories, Dean.
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

...which is going to especially tough for Monk, who made it clear several times Marmaduke was his favorite strip for reasons never fully disclosed.

Here's one that we missed:

On September 3rd, Judy Carne (the girl who said "Sock It To Me!" on "Laugh-In") passed away at age 76.

If you're a longtime fan of the NBA, this is a big one.  Moses Malone, 3 time MVP and 12 time all star who led the Philadelphia 76ers to a 1983 championship has passed away at the age of 60.  He was inducted into the NBA hall of fame in 2001 and had the unique nickname of "Chairman of the Boards".
