My two cents:

1/2-Off: Tough break. So close, too!
Pick a Number for a car: Tough break there, too. 'Nuff said.
Danger Price: Great win! (too bad it's the only win of the season)
Side by Side: I knew that wave runner was expensive (life jacket and trailer or no). Too bad this contestant did not.
Hole in One: Tough break. 'Nuff said.
2 for the Price of 1: Same as Hole in One and Pick a Number.

Showcases: Truth be told, I don't think either of them is any good in my books.

Aside from Danger being won, the rest of the show took a nosedive. Shame about Hole, 241, and PaN.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

A less-than-average 1/6-er today, mostly littered with bad luck.

I'm not sure why, but I really like PaN when played for a car.   That being said, let's keep it to a minimum, since there can always be too much of a good thing.

Half Off: Bummer of a way to start. I do wonder which two boxes would have been eliminated if today's contestant had gotten the third set of SPs. I noticed that after two sets of SPs the boxes left were the two lowest and two highest numbers. I have a hunch 1 and 16 would have been the last two standing and considering today's contestant went high and picked 15 I think he'd have picked 16 and won with 1 and 16 in play had that been the case. Bummer. At least the Samsung smartphone was a nice contestant's row prize.

Pick a Number: Playing it for a car does spice it up. It's a shame the Mazda 3 sport wasn't won. That Mazda looked beautiful on TV in its glorious red. This felt like a crapshoot to me.

Danger Price: Between the TV and the gas grill as the spin bike and ping pong table were clearly less expensive than the danger price. I would have won this by avoiding the TV as well. Great to see a win. Sad it was the only one of the day. The TV was a fantastic prize and the best prize of the lot. The gas grill was also a wonderful prize. The spin bike was alright. As a loner I'd have no use for a ping pong table. Overall a pretty strong prize package.

Side by Side: Setup to be won. Watercraft, especially quality brands like Yamaha, are pretty expensive. I'm not a watercraft person at all but it's still disappointing to see this setup blown, especially with the way the rest of the show went.

Hole in One: Although I knew that shampoo was pretty cheap, I too would have had to putt from the backmost line. Those beans really fooled me as I had guessed 99 cents for them. Really unfortunate the Nissan Versa S wasn't won.

Two for the Price of 1: I would have lost this in the exact same way as today's contestant. I believe in taking the tens digit as the free digit in this game but I too though 8 was the hundreds digit. Disappointing that the nice Sony Camcorders and nice Cayman Islands trip weren't won. Tricky setup in my opinion.

Showcases: The Ford Fiesta showcase was the better showcase and I'm glad it was won.

Lineup: Very good. I'm not a Half Off fan because of how luck based it is. Pick a Number is an okay game as long as it's kept out of the lead off hitter and closer roles and playing it for a car spiced it up to make it a good game. But Danger Price, Side by Side, and Hole in One or Two are all favorites. Two for the Price of One is a an enjoyable game and makes a nice change of pace, both in showing up and in being a closer.

Overall: Below average. Even with a very good lineup a 1 fir 6 show just isn't that good a show. Seeing a car showcase won did at least bump my rating up from bad to below average.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Nothing with a price of $9679 is ever set up to be won when used in Side by Side. Never. There is no prize where $9679 looks better than the perfect-looking $7996.

I don't have much to say here, but the phrase of the day is gut wrenching.  A few games should have been won today, but it wasn't meant to be.  Bummer.  Also, the showcases were really lackluster today.  If I had to pick one, it'd be the Fiesta and the Norway trip (I really want to see some of Scandinavia).  The territory up there is breathtaking.
