  • I deserve this.
Well, ME and Balance were easy wins and Bargain sure was a blindside for some. Although, there were one too many cutoffs when it was about to go to a break...I think it may have to do with the tweets.

The tweets themselves kinda feel like I was watching Fox News or something.  :P But it was cool to see some of those from the forum members, though. I sure did call it when Torrey got a $1.00 on the wheel.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

A not too awesome start for this season's Socially Awkward Awesome Week. Hopefully it won't be like that for the rest of the week.

Second time I've been on the show this year. Piss off, 10-year rule!  :-D
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

Today was also the day that I embarrassed myself on national TV. Kind of.

I made a tweet saying something along the lines of "It's time for the Big Wheel, not the showcase showdown! #SociallyAccurateWeek". Clearly, you all see my brain fart. No idea how it happened but it did. What's funny is that I deleted it straight away too and they STILL put it on the air. Oops.
Yeah...let's make this current shall we?

  • One of the great multitaskers on G-R.net!
Freeze Frame: Another pair of numbers, and he would've had it!

Most Expen$ive: I too thought the washer/dryer was the most expensive.

Rat Race: With two misses, the last being the most outrageous bid ever in this game (I mean, $700 for an dessert maker???), he deserved to lose, although the fact that his rat finished dead last was rubbing it in a little.

Balance Game: I was torn between $7,000 and $8,000; good thing she picked the latter.

Bargain Game: Here, I would've lost by picking the sauna.

Temptation: And another victim has been claimed.

SCSD2: Always fun to see money won on the Wheel, and he got $11,000!

Showcases: I wish the Mini Showcase had been won, but the one with the trips in it wasn't too bad either.

Miscellaneous: It was fun seeing those live tweets scroll across the bottom of the screen, although they were at times distracting from the actual show. I can't wait to see what they do for the next four days...

Although, there were one too many cutoffs when it was about to go to a break...I think it may have to do with the tweets.
I also noticed that at the beginning of the final One-Bid, when they started from George's calldown and completely edited out Drew's toss to him.

Oops.
I've known a few people who don't know they're the same thing, so you can just laugh it off.

Wow, Torrey was a crowd favorite today! He reminded me of Larry from last year's SAW (the guy who won That's Too Much! on the Behind-the-Scenes show).

While I don't find the scrolling tweets at the bottom a big problem, there was one thing that bothered me today. One username included a shortened form of the f-word. That should not have been shown during a family-friendly program like The Price Is Right, in my opinion. I'm not sure if the tweets are manually selected, but if they are, they should be careful in the future. I did not find it acceptable to show a username with an obscure f-word.

Although, there were one too many cutoffs when it was about to go to a break...I think it may have to do with the tweets.

I actually thought there was something long or big later in the show, and they were saving up some time for it, considering the show is crunched for time these days.

Price uploaded a clip of iJustine from this episode on their YouTube channel, and in the description they wrote:

Quote
After winning the showcase showdown nearly six years ago, YouTube star iJustine returns to THE PRICE IS RIGHT as a guest model Wednesday, May 13 (11:00-12:00 Noon, ET; 10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Even the official show's YouTube confuses "Showcase" with the "Showcase Showdown"
"Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better." - Sydney J. Harris

“For the premiere of season 30, CBS wanted to do a special primetime show. However, they asked that we also add a gimmick or a twist to make it truly special. I came up with the suggestion of taking the show on the road for the first time in its history." - Roger Dobkowitz

To be fair, one must win the SCSD to make it to the Showcase.

My contribution to the live tweet session (in the Eastern Time Zone): "One of these days, I'll join the Rat Race"
All opinions expressed here are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to say, they are not those of the Price is Right, or any organization for which I have worked for or will work for. Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

Tweets we wish we could see during Socially Awesome Week:

Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

I did notice on the cbs.com with the camera views, that I believe it was the 2nd one bid, they had two OB's that got edited out.

  • "Mrs. Peacock was a man?!"
Unrelated to anything on today's show: I heard in the multi-camera experience commentary from Mike that some trip skins may still exist, and maybe someday they'll do a showcase flashback involving them...
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

The best tweet of the day in my opinion was this dandy:

Quote
Wait, show the showcase again. I was too busy reading the feed at the bottom. #PriceIsRight

That in a nutshell sums up my biggest complaint about having the feed at the bottom -- it distracts from watching the contestants, listening to the prize descriptions, etc.  With that said, I was half-hoping to see a tweet calling out the show on showcase #1, which just plain looked cheap.

As for the rest of the show, ME was easy, and Balance and Bargain were nice wins on tricky setups.  Rat Race was ugly ($700?!), and Freeze Frame was a tough break.  Temptation was a hard setup, and I would have taken the gifts for sure.  I wish Torrey had done the same.
