2015 ABC Supply 500

Yesterday in the 2015 ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway in the Verizon Indycar series driver Sage Karam lost the back of his car and hit the outside safer barrier. seconds later Andretti Autosport driver Justin Wilson was trying to avoid the debris of Karam's crash only to be struck in the head by a piece of Karam's nosecone causing Wilson to crash. He was airlifted to the local hospital unresponsive and fell into a coma. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family as they make their way to the hospital. Huge kudos though goes out to Tony Stewart who sent his plane to Colorado to fly Wilson's family to Pennsylvania. #PrayersForJustin

I saw that race. That was a very frightening accident.  Very reminiscent to Felipe Massa's F1 qualifying accident in 2009 at Hungary and James Hinchcliffe's moment last year at the Indy road course (although Hinch was dazed, but awake, and still raced in the Indy 500). However, the piece that Wilson hit was far bigger than Massa's impact and Hinchcliffe's (Massa was hit by a spring).

R.I.P. Justin  .  I had met him a few times and got his autograph at the Toronto race.  Very nice guy. He was truly an exceptional racer. Gone too soon

I'm speechless... That's the second death in Indycar in the last five years and the second death in motorsports this year (the other being Jules Bianchi in F1).  Justin Wilson was a world class person and a great driver who never got a shot with one of the better teams until this season when Andretti Autosport brought him in for several races.  The racing world will miss you, Justin.  Now he's off to the great racetrack in the sky where he can race with other legends like Ayrton Senna, Dale Earnhardt, and Dan Wheldon.  R.I.P. Justin.
