85-88 Novas
« on: May 31, 2006, 01:13:57 AM »
Does anyone by any chance know if Price ever gave away any 85-88 Chevrolet Novas in those 4 years, they were the small 4 cylinder novas with the Toyota engines due to the GM Toyota joint venture of 84, this car later became known as the Geo Prizm, then the Chevrolet Prizm...hoping someone might have an episode of where they offered one, I collect these novas =)

Weird fact relating to the Nova:

In Spanish speaking countries, the words no va, means doesn't go, so for these markets the car's name had to be changed.  Nobody wants a car that means doesn't go.  If anybody remembers what the name was changed to, reply to this topic.  It escapes me at this moment.

Actually, that's a weird urban legend relating to the Nova.  (Don't worry... I was told the same crap in business school.)

I stand corrected.

I'm also a business major (Fashion Marketing).  Thanks.  I always believe you learn something new everyday.  That is a very interesting article.  It's an urban legend, wow.

Cool! :-P  I dont see many of those Novas around anymore. The 84-88 Novas were techincally a Chevrolet version of the Corolla. There might be some episodes that offered them but it might be on the old site. The Moderators probaply have the link.

Everyone has the link.  It's right there on the left side of the page.

I have an 87 Nova, bought it from a 97 year old lady who bought it brand new, has a good engine, good interior, low miles, even the factory brochure, she said she only used it to run quick errands and to go to church. Sure it has a toyota engine, but it looks better as a Chevy and it runs really good to this day compared to other cars from that time. If anyone has a link from a show, that would be awesome.

It's interesting that your Nova came from a 97 year old woman - there's an 81 year old widow in my parish that uses her Nova for the same thing.

Almsot makes me wonder if 84-88 Novas did for old folks then what Buicks do today.

I think so, after doing some checking, i realized that alot of these 84-88 Novas are one owner cars, and when I see one on the road they look pretty good for their age..GM and Toyota did a good thing. Tell your fellow church parishoner if and when she decides to sell it, I'm interested. =)
