Poll

So far the UK based Challenge have been unable or unwilling to get hold of the original and best UK Price with Leslie Crowther, and I, for one, think they're missing out on a ratings winner here...  Do you think Challenge should get hold of them?

Good call. It topped the ratings at 16 million in 1984, beating Coronation Street and then continued to have high ratings throughout it's 5 year history. :-D

The topic creator submitted a mod report asking how you set the poll's results to public instead of private.  I've been looking into it, and apparently, the answer is that...well...you don't.  I'm logged in as an admin, and I can't even change that setting.

Chelsea, is there something you can do here?  Maybe my site permissions aren't powerful enough to fiddle with this.

I've tried Simple Machines before. It sounds like the "Associate Producer" rank is a global mod, but not an admin. The "Executive Producer" is the admin.

I mean, I'm probably in the majority here in having little to no knowledge of the subject you are inquiring about.

You also have to remember that the vast majority of this site's audience is in North America, particularly the United States. Very few people here know what this poll (and thread, even) is even supposed to be about...and those that do more than likely don't care, since, again, we're not in the UK.

The topic creator submitted a mod report asking how you set the poll's results to public instead of private.  I've been looking into it, and apparently, the answer is that...well...you don't.  I'm logged in as an admin, and I can't even change that setting.

I don't think it's anything that can be changed, short of deleting the poll and starting over. For what it's worth, the public can still vote and see the results, only admins can see individual votes. It's really not that big of a deal as it is.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

If people on here weren't interested in non-American series of TPiR, why bother having a section of the forum dedicated to it... ?

Simple. For a while there were some posts about foreign versions of TPiR that were being made and the board administrators didn't want the focus to be taking away from the original American show. Thus, we have a section devoted to foreign versions.

There's nothing wrong with it. Just don't complain when nobody votes, and don't pressure people to vote for something they don't know anything about.

I thought most people on here knew about the UK version of TPiR...  No pressure at all...  I'm just surprised there aren't more UK based members viewing this particular section of this site.

Why?  The site is pretty blatantly primarily focused on the American show.

I'm not trying to be smart -- I just genuinely can't see how this could surprise anybody, especially someone like you who's been around here for years.

The site itself is based in America, however this particular section is dedicated to TPiR outside the US, which is exactly where I've put this thread...  and there are many Price fans here in the UK.

But, like I say, I thought a lot of Americans knew about the British version anyway?

Personally, I know of it, but I couldn't give you any specifics beyond that. The international versions don't interest me all that much other than perhaps the occasional YouTube clip I'll watch just to see how different things are done from the version I grew up with.

Like others have said, there are enough people interested to have a section dedicated to international versions, but not enough to generate very much discussion -- especially when compared to the American version.
