Wayne Brady and Jonathan Mangum (host and announcer of LMAD, respectively) make an appearance during this game, with Wayne hosting the game, and Jonathan describing the small prizes.
For those who don’t watch LMAD – on LMAD, Car Pong is a game where you have at least 5 seconds to throw 1 ball at a time into cups to win a car and/or cash. You can get 5 more seconds for each correct answer given to a pop culture question – there are 3 correct answers to each question, which means you can have a maximum of 20 seconds. On today’s show, the pop culture question has been replaced by what is essentially Danger Price with small prizes, and an additional 5 seconds for each correctly picked small prize, with the small prize section ending as soon as the wrong prize is picked.

The small prizes:

·         Holmes mini tabletop fan

I hadn't really thought about this before, but the reality of death means that every day there are less people in the world than the day before.  In reality there are many more people in the world than this but for illustration: If one day there are 1000 people in the world and the next day 55 people die, now there are 945 people in the world. if 30 more die the next day now there are 915 people in the world. So we'll eventually become extinct as will all creatures as the same reality applies to dogs, cats, horses etc.

4 Small Prizes , had to guess which 3 wasn't $5 in Price. Each correct pick adds 5 Seconds to the game ( you start with 5 Seconds )
No cash was awarded in the 1st part of the game.
Unlike LMAD , where you have to give back money to play for the Car , they went straight into the gameplay after Wanye explained the rules.

The first part was pretty much Danger Price with small prizes. It would be possible to win the car (landing the ping-pong ball in the center cup) plus cash (the cash cups were $250, $500, and $1000).

Yeah, it felt like Danger Price with a physical challenge (think Double Dare) at the end. I liked it, felt fresh and interesting. Moreover, it didn't have that sense of not fitting I was afraid of.

I haven't watched Wayne Brady's LMAD in years, but I will watch this week for the mash-ups. I liked the Price version of Car Pong; I think it would fit in well with the regular games.

Interesting how the BMW in the first showcase was just called "a brand new car" instead of "a brand new BMW(!)". Do you think it's because it was a "low-end" model?

The SPs in Car Pong were a gimme; I liked that it was played the same way, with the pricing aspect replacing the pop culture Q&A session that occurs when it's played on LMAD. As I said in another thread, this is going to be a very interesting week in game show history!

Tamara was actually a contestant on the December 13, 1994 episode, about 22yrs or so ago. Her $7 bid won her way up on stage and she played Cover Up for a Mercury Tracer I believe but she didn't win. Nice to see she redeemed herself today.

You are correct, thanks for the find.

Car Pong was executed well - I'm glad they found a way to make it fit into the show. Wayne was actually pretty damn funny during that segment, I especially chuckled at his joke about getting Drew's salary for the next 15 minutes.

On a negative note, this lineup was TERRIBLE. Might have had something to do with Car Pong being so long, but there was no excuse for it to be followed up by Clock Game - besides it having been played last week already, I can't even recall the last time we had more than one timed game in the same lineup. And two 1-prizers, but no GP games? Come on.

I'm also still shocked that the scooters in Flip Flop were almost $10k - I would have flipped and flopped there.

I agree with Car Pong fitting in as a pricing game, but it seemed pretty impossible to actually win the car or any significant amount of money. I'm not a big LMaD watcher-- how often is it won when it's played on that show?

I've seen the game won several times. It requires a soft bounce of the balls; so they don't bounce back out, as one ball did with the car cylinder.
My question is: Why did they set it up so close to Contestants Row? It seemed a little claustrophobic on screen.

I honestly have no interest in the current version of Let's Make a Deal outside of watching the pricing games they're playing this week, but I have to admit it was kind of neat to see a small prize game based on Danger Price.

The throwing part of the game would've fit well as the end game for On The Nose.  Even though it's a physical task, it's something most contestants can do without looking totally uncoordinated.

I know some don't like the concept of this week, but hopefully the process of adapting the games to fit TPIR gave them a few ideas for new pricing games.

I'm guessing it was to give it more of a LMAD vibe with the audience in the shot.

I trying to remember the last time , the show used a Small Prize that was less than $10 , During any Pricing Game.

Or even just $5, as even in the '70s most SPs were at least $10, so this may have been the cheapest SP ever offered in TPIR history. I assume for guessing those correctly that the contestant wins all four since they aren't GPs.

I do find it strange to not mention BMW instead of just "Car", even if a cheaper model. Other than that, a short lineup thanks to the guest appearance and Car Pong explaining, so expect lots of quickies this week.

BTW, now that its the day after, what was the TPIR game featured on LMAD and what was the result?
