Weekly Pricing Show: Week 3
« on: August 12, 2016, 01:48:43 PM »
Welcome back to the show, and now it's time for George Gray to announce the next item up for bids.

GEORGE GRAY: It's a pair of hoverboards! (Amber and Manuela ride around on them) (Bhen IUFB Cue) (applause) Now you can go back to the future with these hoverboards, which are fully operated by foot and can be recharged at home, work or anywhere you go, and have LED lights on the front. One comes in red, and the other in black.

Hoverboarding in heels, I see. That's nice! Now, since this is the Weekly Pricing Show, the bidding is open to everyone, and whoever is closest to the actual retail price without going over will play the next pricing game, which shall be revealed by next Wednesday. Bid away!

Well, since this is it, I'm ready to announce the winner. All the bids are in, and the actual retail price is: $798. PayingTheRent is the winner!

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Let's go back to the Big Doors, where we're about to play our next pricing game. George, tell him what he can win!

(Getting Out of It)

(Door #2 opens)

GEORGE: PayingTheRent, you now have a chance to win up to $10,000 in cash...

(wall splits off to reveal set)

(drumbeats)

...playing 1/2 Off!

That's right, you're going to play 1/2 Off for a shot at $10,000! There are 16 boxes; one of them has the cash, the others have nothing. It's going to be tough just picking 1 out of 16, so we're going to give you a chance to eliminate half of the boxes at a time until there are only two left. And you can do so if you know about these small prizes over there, where Rachel and Gwendolyn are. George, what's the first pair?

(1994 SP Cue)

GEORGE: Store up to 200 CD's, DVD's and CD-ROM games with this CD storage case, and make sure that you're always connected to the Internet with this router and modem.

Now the game is called 1/2 Off because one of these prices is the actual retail price, and the other is the 1/2-off price.

CD CASE $20
MODEM $99

We need to know which one has the 1/2-off price, is it the CD case or the modem?

No way that storage case is $40. I'll go with the router!

Also, two cash games, back-to-back? I'm not complaining, but it's definitely something you don't see every day. :P

He says the modem is $198. What do you say, Gwendolyn?

CD CASE $20
MODEM $99 $99

BUZZ!

No, it was the CD case that is actually $40.

CD CASE $20 $40
MODEM $99 $99

So that means we don't eliminate any boxes, but let's try again with the next pair. George?

(lite-rock version of Fortune Hunter Cue)

GEORGE: Bring the movie theater to your home with this retro-style popcorn maker. And carry your clothes, toiletries, books and just about anything else with you in this sporty duffel bag.

POPCORN MAKER $85
DUFFEL BAG $12

Now which one has the 1/2-off price, the popcorn maker or the duffel bag?

Dammit! Well, at least this one is a bit easier. Let's go with the duffel bag.

He says the duffel bag is $24. How about it, Gwendolyn?

POPCORN MAKER $85
DUFFEL BAG $12 $24

DING!

That's more like it! Let's get rid of half the boxes.

(half the boxes lower to a tinkling sound effect)

BOXES REMAINING: 1 3 4 6 9 10 13 16

Now you have eight boxes left, but we can get it down to four with this last pair. Let's hear about it, George.

(SP Slide)

GEORGE: Why use a stove when you can make pancakes, scrambled eggs, stir-fry and other delicious meals with this convenient electric skillet? And this can opener takes care of the hardest task you might have in the kitchen so you can work on your recipes sooner.

SKILLET $30
CAN OPENER $32

Is it the skillet or the can opener that has the 1/2-off price?

He says the can opener is $64. Is he right, Gwendolyn?

SKILLET $30
CAN OPENER $32 $32

BUZZ!

No, the skillet is actually $60.

SKILLET $30 $60
CAN OPENER $32 $32

So you're stuck with these eight boxes. Only one of them has the $10,000 inside. Pick that box, and you win. Are you going with Box #1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 13 or 16?
