60 years ago today marks Bob Barker's television debut for his work on Truth or Consequences, and more familiar as host of The Price Is Right later on.

Was it common to introduce new tv programs on new years eve back then? I am sure viewership was much higher then it is now

Truth or Consequences was on for several years with two other hosts (Ralph Edwards and Jack Bailey) before Bob took over. December 31 was Bob's first episode, not the debut of the show itself.

I found that episode on youtube recently, and what was amazing to me, the very first commercial was for Bill Cullen's "The Price is Right".  I thought that was beyond amazing!
