7943K 05/17/17 Recap Thread (Dream Car Week Day 3)
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:02:19 AM »
SQUEEZE PLAY* - W (2:20.11)
GRAND GAME - P ($100) (3:55.77)
BONUS GAME* - W (5:23.98)
RACE GAME - L (4:13.79)
SIDE BY SIDE - W (2:42.73)
POCKET CHANGE - L (5:42.91)

Notes:
-   Squeeze Play featured a Mazda 6, which is the most expensive automobile/prize ever offered in this game ($24,396)
-   Bonus Game played for a California road trip, which was won.  An additional bonus (Mitsubishi Lancer, $19,405) was offered that could only be won if all four prizes were correct AND the bonus window could be guessed in advance.  All four prizes were correct, but the contestant (Kristi) chose the third window; however, the bonus was located behind the first window.
-   Pocket Change played for a Cadillac Escalade, which is by far the most expensive automobile ever offered in this game ($78,612)
-   The Top Winner in the Showcases, Christian, ended up winning two cars (Mazda 6 in his pricing game and a Nissan Altima in his Showcase), giving him a nice haul of $65,785 for the day!

Come on... They couldn't have played Side by Side for a car?  :P

And this is how they might retire Shell Game. Bonus became a streamlined Shell Game with this playing. (Yeah, there were slight differences, but the line grew thinner on today's playing).

Pocket for a Cadillac? Its like they only wanted maybe the Range Game dream car to be won.

(I will post the total car count later today).
My favorite game is Clock Game and my least favorite is Switcheroo, because reasons.

Reminding you about 1932... when Richard Dawson was born. I will remember $19.32, even after he Checked-Out. Feud will never be the same without you.

Pretty Good Game lineup , even with 2 Quickies.
Squeeze Play had a favorable Setup today.
The only way anyone was going to win Pocket Change today was with sheer luck with the Envelope picks.

Regarding the Mazda in Squeeze Play, I know could not have been the most expensive prize ever. A Chevy Suburban that was well over $47,000, IIRC, was offered in the same game on an MDS back in 2008.

And speaking of the MDS, today's Bonus Game would've been a perfect Million-Dollar Game, with the million dollars being awarded if the contestant got all four SP's right and then guessed the correct location of the bonus window. Alas, this will most likely never be realized, what with Big Money and Dream Car Weeks being the norm nowadays. As much as I like Bonus Game, I'd hate to see Shell Game retired, as it's a far more superior game, and the host can mix up the shells so that the ball cannot be found (whereas in Bonus Game, the window selections are predetermined, and therefore, the windows cannot be manipulated the same way).

You think Shell Game may be on its way out?  I know it's only been played maybe 3 times this year.  Probably because the 4 out of 4 bonus for a chance at a large cash prize is perhaps why they don't do it much?

P.T.R. is going by the Daytime Version for these stats ( Like I usually do )
A Good Example is Punch-A-Bunch ( Last time someone won $25,000: 6/19/2014 , The Survivor Special had a $25K winner Last Year , but this was in Primetime )

I didn't think about why not Shell Game instead of Bonus today until it was brought up here. It would've made more sense because of the bonus situation in Shell Game, but I guess timing might've been the reason. I too hope this isn't a sign Shell Game is on it's way out. At least they didn't make it so that the contestant lost the trip if the correct window for the car wasn't chosen.

Tough decision between the olives and conditioner in Grand Game as the other GP besides the One-a-Day to not pick.

Race Game was a bit of a mess. The low price tag should've never left the computer and the ATV was the only prize that made sense for the $3,099 tag.

But the only reason Shell Game is timed longer than Bonus Game is because of the all-four-chips bonus pick. If they wanted to retire Shell Game, then why would they permanently modify Bonus Game with a rule that would make it equally as long?

I know probably timing is why we did this, and I think that we will see Shell again, but I am getting worried. I think they could easily abolish the cash bonus, so I don't think that's why we aren't seeing it. And theoretically, I think winning a window would save about 20ish seconds in total compared to placing down chips, but I don't know.

Maybe for a 1986 Yugo (Of course for that to be considered a "Dream Car" they'd need Freddy Kreuger to be the model).

Hey, at least I don't have to drown myself in taxes! Ok, I am at 2 tax cracks this week. I am done.

But, I was thinking more of a 3 digit number in the center, and the 2 digits slide. Ex. [21][198] or [198][21]

Interesting twist with Bonus Game. I would have liked to have seen it done using the old board with the incandescent lights. As I've written previously, I don't get the same winning feeling with the newer displays.

For me, it's the untrusting feeling that they could change the "Win" location midgame despite the rational part of my brain knowing that really wouldn't happen.
Q: How did you make Price your own? When did you feel comfortable saying 'this is my house now'?
A: After Mike started. Cause it was really like 'play it this way'...then all of a sudden I was able to just do whatever I wanted to do.
