How can I find out the air date of an episode?

When I was a boy our neighbor went on TPIR and won. This would have been back in either 77 or 78. He was an elderly man back then and is now passed on. His name was Virgil Lewis. I remember that he won a trip to Brazil, a movie projector, oriental rug ( i think) and a few other things. If I recall correctly he was wearing a pair of bib overalls when they called him down.

If you can remember any of the games played on his episode, that would help.

I'm afraid I've given all the information that I remember. I know the entire school stopped and watched TPIR when it aired. I was in the 5th grade so that would have been the 77-78 school year. It would have aired between Sept 77 and May 78. That's about as narrow of a time frame as I can get. Mr. Lewis was in his 70's when he went on.
