That change was made toward the end of Bob's tenure when they gained more commercial time and did everything they possibly could to shave seconds off the show.
It was also redundant to have the Big Door open and then have the safe door open as well before playing the game.

Punch-a-Bunch and Grand Game are cousin games in that they are both played for cash, use musical intros (Golden Road harps in one, Family Feud ending in the other) and are hidden behind the Giant Price Tag.
