Falcons lose their first, 23-17 to Buffalo. Losing Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu didn’t help matters, but the final play was a puzzle. They should have rolled the dice against Buffalo’s rush defense on 4th and 1. But no. Ryan, who had two picks already in the game, threw a pass that wouldn’t have gone in the ocean.

After four weeks, the Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the NFL! Who knew? (not to mention the defending champs are currently at .500)

After having let half the defense and offensive line walk in the offseason, I suspected they'd regress to a degree.  So far, that does appear to be the case.

Fox might need to flex Chicago @ New Orleans to the late slot in week 8. Cowboys-Redskins seems to lose some luster now.

What the league should do is flex better games into Monday Night Football seeing as that's traditionally been the feature game of the week.  I know the schedule is released in April, but Vikings/Bears and Colts/Titans??  Green Bay/Dallas would've been a better option for MNF this past week.  Back in the 80s and 90s it seemed like there were much better Monday Night Matchups. (Three that come to mind are Bears/Dolphins from 1985(with the Bears coming into the old Orange Bowl 12-0 and leaving with their lone loss that season), 49ers/Giants in 1990 (with both teams holding the top two records in the league up to that point, I know hard to believe since both are winless this season), and Chiefs/Broncos from 1993 or 94 with John Elway going against Joe Montana.  Back then, MNF used to draw much higher ratings even with a 9pm start time on the East Coast.  Other factors also contribute to MNF's higher share of viewers decades ago such as fewer cable channels, no internet, and the absence of streaming, but seemingly the NFL's Monday Night Games no longer seem to have the appeal they once had

The NFL actually now considers Sunday night the feature game of the week, not Monday. Plus, you can't really implement flex scheduling when there's no other games on Monday to move into that primetime slot, and moving games from Sunday isn't always possible due to schedule conflicts.

FOX and CBS also have the right to protect games as well. The NFL wants as many eyes in all the windows as they can get. They not only value the Sunday night window, but also the 4:25 doubleheader spot. It's why certain games are prevented from being flexed during the flex scheduling window.

Adrian Peterson has been traded to the Cardinals, which will be his third team in this calendar year alone. To make room for him, Arizona had to cut Chris Johnson loose.

Very true.  The 3:25pm time slot was instrumental in establishing the Dallas Cowboys as "America's Team" during the 1960s and 1970s.  Back then, the majority of CBS affiliates aired the Cowboys' contests narrated by Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier in the majority of households in the late afternoon (4pm Eastern/3pm Central and Rocky Mountain)  "doubleheader" window, growing their fanbase nationally in an era before Sunday Ticket, NFL Redzone, and streaming were available.
