Thanks for playing, Ben McAdoo (N.Y. Giants). Don't forget your copy of the home game.

One couldn't help feeling the phantom of Ray Handley, who similarly squandered everything Bill Parcells had built in about the same short time as McAdoo squandered Coughlin's legacy.  There's no denying McAdoo mishandled the Manning situation, and that was probably the last straw for the Mara family.

After the first failed attempt, the Silverdome finally implodes today on the second try (the former home of the Detroit Lions). The first failed attempt is making headlines.

Scary moment on Monday Night Football as Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is carted off after a neck-related injury with no movement in his legs.

It should probably be asked:  should the Vikings end up the NFC champion, as there's a reasonably good chance of being the case, should the league consider the possibility of moving the Super Bowl's location in the interests of maintaining a neutral site?
No way that will happen this season.  Super Bowl sites are scheduled years in advance.  Plus, you have the thousands of fans that have booked tickets to the game locations.  Moving it would cause a full revolt.

It may be considered for the next time the selection committee meets (which would be for the 2023 Super Bowl).  But I don’t see a need for a neutral site.  It’s so rare that it hasn’t even happened yet.  Will it happen one day?  Sure.  But the location changes from year to year, so I can see it staying rare enough to not be a concern.

Atlanta is getting 1 at New Orleans Thursday night. Falcons CB Desmond Trufant was cleared from concussion protocol and will play. G Andy Levitre is out with a tricep injury.

Roger Goodell will be eating good for the next five years. He just signed a contract extension as NFL commissioner that nets him $200 million, 85% of that in bonuses.

Ugly win for Atlanta last night. Three picks for Ryan but Brees threw a pick that iced the game.

Who expected the Dolphins to beat the Patriots last night? (cue the chirping crickets!)

Well Miami lately has tended to do surprisingly well again New England at home, so while surprisingly given how bad they've been most of this year, it's not completely unexpected.

Atlanta, currently holding the sixth seed, has to win outright although 9 or 10 wins can get them in. According to the locals, Tampa Bay (road) is a gimme putt, New Orleans (road) is doubtful, Carolina (home) is winnable.

And of course the question now is, how does Aaron Rodgers's return shake everything up? (I myself hope he at least pulls off 2 or 3 in a row, as that probably keeps Dallas out).  While I still think it'll be Philadelphia-Minnesota for the Halas Trophy, there's some good NFC depth at the top, and at least one worthy team won't make it to the postseason this year.  In contrast, it looks pretty clear-cut Pittsburgh-New England in the AFC, so anyone who can eliminate them deserves the Hunt Trophy.

The good NFC divisions are the West and South. The East is garbage other than Philadelphia, and the North has Minnesota, a mediocre Green Bay, an overrated and not playoff bound Detroit, and a bad Chicago.

a mediocre Green Bay
With one of the all time greats in Aaron Rodgers set to come back, he can get GB to the Super Bowl on his own.  But it might be too little too late.
