If they are true, then Claudia is probably a really happy person right now, given the way he treated her.

Except Randy specifically said it was greatly exaggerated.

A friend scours the net for me, and catches the craziest crap and fake news. Please bother to be correct.

THIS is what I said:

NOTE: A rumor is swirling about the death of a game show producer of note. The family contacted me to say it is not true, as of this morning. Please do not post or respond about anybody's passing without including a link to a respectable national source.

Let's not feed the flame of fake news, especially when family and friends can be hurt.

We appreciate your coming in, Mr. West.

I will appreciate if we end the discussion of this now.

I have locked this thread until further notice.

I don't know how Pentellit found out, but if you have BUZZR, it was apparently at the end of Game Changers.

Actually, no, that was a different Phil Wayne. That one worked on Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

I'm splitting this portion of the discussion into its own thread.  This doesn't need or deserve to be lumped in with everything else that's gone down in the other one.

Now then...what exactly did happen here?  I think we've firmly concluded that yes, Phil died, and that's a sad thing, but we somehow still seem to be arguing about details involving a game show digital subchannel and whether or not more than one person in the industry had this name.  Can we please not throw out any more speculation until someone who's in a position to know (Randy? John? Pentelliters?) can come in and clarify things?

I saw Randy's Facebook post.....i thought at first it was the producer of Gordon Ramsey's shows at first which threw me off...Hopefully Drew,Marc and CBS would let Bob do a tribute video to Phil on the Price set and post it to CBS dot Com and YouTube

I thought it was Phil Wayne Rossi, Frank's son, but I was unaware of another game show person by that name (minus Rossi, of course).

RIP Phil.

Here's an episode that starts with Barker walking over to the producer table to wish Phil a happy birthday back in 1987: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22X9p43qfe8

Evidently there was some confusion and disinfo following our initial reporting of Phil Wayne's death.   In spite of the mis and dis info, Phil has left the building.
