Dice Game Original Rules
« on: December 20, 2017, 08:03:48 AM »
The dice game was originally played with digits higher than 6 being possible.  Has anyone seen video online of someone winning a car that contained a digit higher than 6 in the price in dice game?

Did happen on January 31, 1977 which used to be up there years ago but hasn't been resurfaced yet.

Cool.  I'll have to keep an eye out for that episode.  Seems that this only happened a handful of times...

It couldn't have been won that many times with the original rules otherwise they wouldn't have changed them.

Come to think of it, when was the last time a number other than one rolled by a die was in the price?

The way your question is worded confuses me a bit but if you mean a number one can't actually roll (0, 7, 8, 9) then the answer is somewhere between January 31 and June 29, 1977 when the rules were changed.

The actual retail price is...

That's exactly what I meant; a number other than one that can be rolled (0, 7-9).

Thanks everyone.  I'll keep looking...

So we think these rules were in existence from June 2, 1976 to June 29, 1977?

We honestly don't know when the rules changed. All we know is that on January 31, 1977 the original rules were still in place, and by June 29, 1977 the current rules had been implemented. Could have changed anywhere within that time frame.

I remember seeing the gameplay for that January 1977 show and found the rule confusing!  Very happy that it was changed!
