2018 Obituaries Thread
« on: January 03, 2018, 03:39:51 AM »
Originally went to the obit thread to post this, but then I realized that it'd be kind of strange to keep posting in it through 2018.

Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, passed away at the age of 90.

Among members of the Mormon faith, he was considered to be a prophet and priesthood leader; he addressed millions of Mormons around the world regularly for over 54 years.

He is remembered for espousing the philosophy, "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved."

"It's the greatest challenge in the world to invent a new game. For every one you see, every concept that is ultimately refined and developed, a dozen are worked on and not worked on, or almost worked on, or dropped because they don't read any more. We test and hammer and test and hammer...

When you finally get it down so that it looks very very simple, that one has had the most complicated amount of work." -Mark Goodson

Frank Buxton, character actor, author, cartoon voice (Batfink), kids show host (Discovery, Hot Dog) and game show host (Goodson-Todman's Get The Message in 1964), has passed on from a lengthy illness at age 87.

I actually saw Brendan Byrne in October because he was an honoree at my workplace's/alma mater's anniversary dinner and he definitely did not look good then. He wasn't able to get up or speak. So unfortunately I knew he didn't have much longer. RIP Mr. Byrne.
