New Pricing Game Idea: CARTLOAD
« on: February 09, 2018, 10:31:48 AM »
CARTLOAD:

Contestant is given a shopping cart full of grocery items and domestic hardware.  Also they have a podium with a series of 5 single-digit numbers and must place 5 of the items from the cart next to each of the 5 numbers on the podium.
The numbers, multiplied by the prices of each of the items next to the corresponding number are then totalled up, and must come within 10 dollars of a given target, either above or below, for the contestant to win.

It sounds like a variation of Check Out, only more difficult. If this game got green lighted, it couldn't be played with Vend O Price because that game involves multiplying a certain number of items to get the highest total.

What would they win? Is this a car type of game?

There are a cartload of items. From your description, there are at least 5 different items, maybe more. Take a lot of time to describe these items.
Why do I need to place 5 of each? How long do you expect this will take a contestant?
How long will it take to explain this game concept? Seems quite complex.
There may be an interesting puzzle here, but I can't see a contestant executing it faithfully.
This feels like an 8-minute pricing game....so no....

And Spelling Bee and Rat Race as well.

As I understand it... you pick any of the products from the cart, place them with a number to multiply them by,  add up the total, & try to get it within a target total.  If you go over $10 you lose... right?
Seems like it would be simpler to have like 7 or 8 products & you pick 5 that add up to a total like Take Two but harder

To rephrase, I meant place 1 item next to each of the 5 single digit numbers.
