This is probably towards the end of the era of $6,000 cars on TPIR, at least in car games other than Hole in One, Spelling Bee, etc. Three Strikes is played for a $6,900 Ford Escort Pony, a stripped-down version of an already cheap car.

Another episode in which there were empty seats - this must have been when the weather was bad at the time of taping (around December 1987). Boy that 5th game was rushed on that playing, and is still using the Range Game music by this point.

Looked like Five Price Tags had the "WIN" tag in place here, moves that up about a month or so.

Beverly's strategy in Phone Home Game was a good one giving prices for the most and least expensive products on the counter.  As for the empty seats, I remember reading somewhere that there were several days of monsoon-like rains in Southern California when this episode was filmed.  Having just crossed the benchmark of being the longest continuous running game show less than a year prior, the lower population in the audience wasn't an indicator of the show's popularity at the time.
