FPG Finals Information - Finalists Please Read
« on: June 20, 2018, 10:00:47 PM »
So with today's show being bumped, we have an issue - if we play on Friday as scheduled, we wouldn't have a full week.

One option is obviously to play Friday as normal, with a missing day.

Or we could play this Monday on the fill in the blank show.

Or we could wait for the last show of this week to air in August.

I'm letting you four finalists decide - if there is a tie, I will make the tie breaking decision vote. Or if you have another idea.

I vote for having it this Friday.

Having a fill-in-the-blank day would make it too predictable IMO, and waiting until August is just way too late.

I'm in favor of playing Monday on the fill in the blank show.

We've had enough "fill in the blank" FPGs by now to know that they aren't always super predictable at all. With slotting and results, there should be enough to differentiate 4 people from each other. I don't like doing FPG on a week with a missing day nearly as much. I feel like particularly the quickies become a random guessing game at that point.

I agree that August is way too late.

August 21. Just do it, it's late as hell but next year just build in an extra backup week.

Doing it tomorrow would be even more insane than a leftover show, by the way. Can't believe a finalist would want that.

Since Tanzerey has yet to respond, I will go ahead and confirm that we will NOT have FPG tomorrow. I will post the official day in a bit.

I apologize for my delay in response. From the looks of things, the other finalists each picked a different option, but there will not be FPG today. I appreciate that as I wasn't too thrilled about the schedule shuffle as likely the others weren't either.

If my vote still matters at the time of posting, I would vote the August date only for the reason that "fill in the blank" episodes are my weakness.

Regardless of what is decided, I'm excited for what happens as I never expected to make it to the finals.

So it's decided then, right? August 21 wins the majority.

I feel that August is very late, and with it being the last show to air, if we had any site outages around that time or anything else not allowing a game, there would be zero backups.

I am really leaning toward this Monday, with the other two games being used as backups/shiggles. If anyone wants to further discuss this, they can post in this thread. Otherwise, I will make a post tomorrow morning at the usual time for a game on Monday.

You're going against your word in the original post of this thread, as the four finalists have expressed their opinions and August 21 is the majority vote. Also, 8393K HAS TO AIR by September 14. It's not just going to disappear into the ether.

I agree with that point - however, my concern expressed there is that we have had site outages lasting a few days - should that happen during August 21, we have no backup plan.

Just throwing this in here: If we know that it's going to be very late in August, and we have seen the other four episodes in the week, can the finalists opt to just submit their cards whenever they want between now and August?
"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

Oh, site outages.

Because of course we can't count on this site to be up on any particular day.

I don't think there'd be a problem playing in August other than it just being so late. You have the participants submit after the July 4 episode to ensure you have picks while the site is still operational, should something happen closer to the date of it. But like I said, I just think it's too late.

I honestly don't know what makes it any better than one of the fill in the blanks coming up this week. By the time it's played the whole season will have aired and won't that make it a fill-in-the-blank more or less?

And I could be naive, but while I know there are some clear picks possible in the fill-in-the-blanks coming up, I also think there could be some surprises too. We've had plenty of those this season.

Just my two cents even though I'm not in the running anymore.

There's only two episodes after hte 8390s in production order, so that's barely a fill in the blank
