March 12, 1965 (ABC Daytime--Jack Clark guest host)
« on: August 13, 2018, 06:36:50 AM »
Another ABC daytime show, airing on a Friday, appeared on YouTube recently; this has Jack Clark guest host while Bill Cullen (now billed as the show's executive producer) is on vacation. This week's celebrity player is Dorothy Lamour (she would appear again the week of March 22). The other contestants:

* Current champ Ann Varise, who won $1231 on Thursday's show.

* Joseph Williams, from Chicago. He was last week's sweepstakes winner.

* Margaret Gerard, from Cleveland.

Dorothy draws four cards from the hopper with the names of the audience members she will play for. The first card: Mrs. H.L. Jacobs. All contestants get the Price Is Right box game (under the supplementary name "Bid It Right").

First item: the Select-a-Rest adjustable bed, a twin-size bed electronically controlled to adjust for comfort. Price authority: Norman Dyne Sleep Center, New York.

Mrs. Varise opens anywhere with minimums at $10 (*--frozen bid; last bid buzzer follows bid in bold)

ARP: $450, with Mrs. varies the winner, and she hit the bonus bell. She also wins an adjustable lamp and a mink cape from Scaparelli Furs.

Second name Dorothy draws: Mrs. Fred Fike. Second item: A dining room set. 10 pieces in hard rock north maple. Includes a breakfront. Price authority: Colonial Cherokee Furniture, Bryson City N Y.

Mr. Williams starts. Minimums are $25:

ARP: $871, with Mr. Williams the winner.

Third name Dorothy plays for: Mrs. Gloria Long. Third item: A palm-size radio. Includes battery and antenna. Price authority: Ross Electronics, Chicago.

Mrs. Gerard starts, and it's a one-bid item:

Jack informs the panel they have all overbid. He has the bids erased and instructs them to bid lower than 45 (the lowest frozen bid):

ARP: $17.95 with Mrs. Gerard the winner, and she hit the bonus bell. She receives Chunky candy, a year's supply of RC Cola and a set of sheets and pillow cases.

The winner of the Auto Sweepstakes from three weeks earlier is announced. The total price of the Mercury Comet 404, radio, rug cleaner and carpeting is $2840.83. The five drawn cards and their bids:

Correction (so what else is new?): on the first bidding game, Mrs. Varise's final bid was 210. I missed putting that down.
