Show #500 of the original Atinale al Precio in Mexico, and they knew how to put on a special:

  • Every contestant who is called down to play, regardless of whether they make it on stage or not, receives 500 pesos.
  • The first game of the lineup is a game they never played again after this. The contestant has the option of choosing which prize they will keep if they win the game. Afterwards, they have the option: do they want to try to pick the most expensive prize, the least expensive prize, or the prize whose price is between the other two? If they are right, they win the prize they chose at the outset.
  • Look carefully at the showcases. One of them offers a trip to LA, and specifically to see a taping of the American Price is Right.

So that's where the US show got their current light border from.

If anyone is wondering, 500 pesos in 1999 would be approx. $18 :/
