I thought it was a no-brainer to take the $3,000 in Spelling Bee. The odds that he spelled “car” were long and the car at stake wasn’t exactly a hot commodity.

Not a good day in terms of gameplay, to say the least, but Range Game prevented a skunking. I would've taken the $3,000 in Spelling Bee.

Wow, they made the groceries in Hole in One very easy except for whether the muscle cream or the vitamins should be last. Definitely surprised the putt wasn't made after getting so close to the hole.

Not super surprised Danger Price ended in a wipeout, the accessories were the only prize that was a must pick. The others were all plausible.

Guessing $75 for the food dehydrator certainly didn't help matters in Spelling Bee, although it would've taken the CAR card to win with the other cards being As. Not sure why he didn't just take the money, it's not like it was being played for an anywhere near luxury car.

Reminded me of someone who got to the closest line - and left the putt short.  (This was before the "...or Two" era)

Tough loss in Hole in 1 , to play that good and lose is heartbreaking.
Neddy is the only the 2nd contestant since at least season 32, to miss both putts from the 3rd line or closer ( other time since Season 32 was 12/15/15 )

Oh my god.  A Hole in One (or two) game lost from THAT line?  WOW.

I disagree on one count and think the other is way more borderline.

Danger Price should have had at least one non-wipeout pick.  It ended in -98.  That logically should suggest two prizes together in one group.  If nothing else, the accessories should have been a pick before them.

As for the Spelling Bee...the car's a cheap one, yes, barely $13,000.  But let's look at the player's position at their worst spot.

Even at the worst case, with the only win at the end being the CAR cards...there were 28 cards left, Michael's choice and the other 27 cards on the board.  Two result in wins, 26 result in losses.  So the odds of winning are 1/14.  The player's expected value going with their final card is $941.78.  Taking the money here is the better play, but not by much.  In any scenario in which the car is over $15,000, even a player who gets nothing beyond the two guaranteed cards should technically go on at every opportunity (2 cards out of 30 = the player's expected value playing hoping to hit CAR is $2,000 at that point.)

...though honestly the big surprise is that they use such cheap cars on the show still!

That makes absolutely no sense.  The accessories were the only prize that did have multiple items, and the danger price ended up being the grill, anyway.

Had she lost from the closest line... boy, the internet would never have let her live it down.

Expected value only means something if you get to play the game multiple times. For a contestant who only gets one shot at it, the more important figure should be "less than a 1 in 10 chance of winning a Nissan Versa." If I was in that position, assuming I had a car that was in good condition, I'd take the guaranteed $3,000, no question.

As a stats teacher, I endorse this analysis.  Even though I know I may have a negative mathematical expectation, the "one time shot" makes it worthwhile.

Considering its a Nissan Versa, a car I physically cannot fit into, I'd take the $3000 and run too!

With Drew's most recent miss putt , he's now miss his inspirational putt 7 straight times.
He's only made one putt in the last 4 seasons combined ( including this one )

Worth mentioning here, the contestant who was the last of the first four called and the first on stage:

(see attachment)

Is Colton Medlin, an actor who's appeared in several small television parts.

I just saw him on a rerun of "Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell" and recognized his name as soon as George said it.

Wonder if he's going to join the ranks of Vanna White and Linda Cardellini to go on and do bigger things?
