Pass the Buck hurt to watch, but I don't think anybody in their right mind would bail on $8,000 at that point

I wouldn't-- I'd much rather pay the taxes on cash than on a car (assuming the taxes aren't too regressive, that is)!

Other than that painful Pass the Buck bailout, the show was enjoyable from beginning to end, and I'm glad that we got four games won today.

$8,000 in cash, missed out on an under $17k car...I'm not sure if I can really call that "painful".

Well, hold on there.

The car was worth $16,880.

The player had one pick left and $8,000 in hand.  Two are lose everything, one is a $1,000 win, and one is a car worth $16,880.

So the four possibilities are -$8,000, -$8,000, +$1,000, and +$16,880.  Add those all up and divide by 4.  The expected value of the next pick, in this situation, is +$470.  From a purely mathematical perspective, it makes sense to pick again even with the 50/50 chance of losing what you already have.  But when you factor in the Kelly Criterion, which factors in just how much it makes sense to make a positive expectation bet but consider the loss of your bankroll, at that point it makes sense to bail.

But I wouldn't call someone crazy for going for it.

I want Ten Chances! Soon! :-) It’s one of my favorite games. And I would still love to see it played for a $50K - $98K car in the near future.

Another is Pass The Buck. Three picks today! I would have gone for it if I was in today’s contestant’s shoes.

Curious as to whether they were using the classic reveal, I checked out the beginning of Bonus Game. When they showed where the small prizes were in relation to the game board, it looked like it was impossible for the contestant to actually see what they were pricing. Did anybody else get that impression?

OK, I have to ask: when was the last time someone hit a green section in a bonus spinoff and won?

That’s hilarious that you mention that, as I thought the same thing while watching. The way the first SP was shown, it looked like it was facing away from the contestant.

I just got around to watching this today, and I had the same thought but figured it was just an illusion caused by the camera angle.  I'm glad to know it wasn't just me, although I'm also puzzled as to why that would happen.
