Let's not get into fear-mongering. TPiR, The Late Late Show...they could easily re-up their leases after 5 years and may very well do so.

They could both end up at CBS Studio Center. Who the hell knows. There is five years before anything drops.

Full stop right now: keep the thread civil.

Interesting that they sold the mark rights to "Television City" too.  Lots of programming is shot there...
They can be close at the top, too.

Makes me wonder where Price will move to once they stop taping at Television City.

Pardon me for not being knowledgeable about the topic, but since Television City is a city landmark, does that complicate the transaction at all?
"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

"I honestly thought the doubler was gone, but 9821 going $0 makes sense"

When I saw the headline, my heart sank. Although I know that nothing will be changing for the next 5 years (and possibly even longer), and that they certainly wouldn't be cancelling Price, it makes me sad to see it be sold.

My first thought is that the press release you linked to says the shows are expected to remain for at least five years.

No need to panic.

My sentiments exactly.

I have to ask - what difference does it make to any of us where the show is produced?  Would you like it less if it was produced at CBS Studio City?  And if so, why?

“Because Bob Barker did it at Television City” just doesn’t seem like a strong enough argument to me.

Let's also remember that Real Time With Bill Maher will have to move, because I do believe they tape in Studio 33 also.

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

For me it has nothing to do with TV history or ties to Bob Barker. It’s solely about the visual presentation/look of the show. Part of the show’s charm in my opinion is due to its set layout. I’m not sure if they could completely recreate it in a different location.

Not a big deal at all though obviously. I would still watch the show as long as the format stays the same. Just being honest in how I would feel though.

Should Price move to a new facility, I would hope they’d at least build the stage to resemble the current one

Honestly, upon having been to the show, I think Price could do better. It may have been state-of-the-art 30 years ago, but when I went there 5 years ago, I was hardly impressed. Sure, it's got all the tradition, but it badly needs modernized, especially the outside portion.

How do we know the show won't be cancelled in the next five years?

Having to navigate a potential facility and hosting change along with an ever changing television landscape could put the show on thin ice.

The fun will have to end eventually.

I say Price gets to 50 and then it ends. I don't see Price lasting past 50.
