Jerry Herman, lyricist who wrote Hello, Dolly and Mame, age 88 of pulmonary complications.

Not just a lyricist, he was a composer/lyricist who also wrote the score for La Cage aux Folles, the only Broadway musical win to the Best Musical Tony Award three times (One for Best Musical, two for Best Revival of a Musical). Rest in Peace, Jerry.

Legendary Iowa coach Hayden Fry passes on from cancer at 90; he also coached at SMU and North Texas, and started a strong coaches tree including Barry Alvarez and Bill Snyder:

Patricia Alice Albrecht, best known as the speaking voice of Pizzazz in the '80s cartoon "Jem (and the Holograms)", passed away on Christmas Day. No cause of death given.

Jack Sheldon, jazz trumpeter and sidekick to Merv Griffin on "The Merv Griffin Show" who also gave voice to the "Schoolhouse Rock" classics I’m Just a Bill and Conjunction Junction, passed away on December 27th at age 88. Cause of death not disclosed.
