Clock Issue - Scaling Deadline Time Indefinitely
« on: January 21, 2019, 12:27:39 PM »
So I know when I push a bit too hard and am late on bids. I know for a fact I sent at 11:55 today, and I checked with Kev and he did as well. Yet the timestamps had Kev at 56:20 and me at 56:32 - late. Cephas was also at 56:33 - he is NEVER late.

Upon looking at the forum time, I don't know when this started - it's like 25 seconds ahead. First bid was at 54:17 - I'm used to the early birds in the late 53s. So I'm going to start accepting bids until 56:50 on the forum time, for now.

I know this looks kinda collusion-y (for lack of a better word, lol) as I DSW'd and won today, but just check your local computer time vs the forum time in the top left corner of the page, it's way off. If you feel like a bid was unfairly late recently, you can PM me and I'll look at counting it.

Yeah, I'm seeing a clock issue here. With a freshly synchronized clock, I refreshed the page and took a screenshot. The forum clock said 12:28:28 PM. My computer (in the central time zone) said 11:28:01 -- a 27 second discrepancy.
I didn't get called down, but the guy next to me did

If it's consistently 25+ seconds for everyone, I could go as far as 56:55, too. But I'd like to be a bit conservative here on the estimate.

So don't stew over your bids quite as long and get them in, basically, and you'll be fine. xlx

It's off by 45+ seconds now. I'll keep adjusting on a day to day basis.

As of tomorrow, I am calculating the time difference daily to determine the cutoff. It's up to a 76 sec difference now.
